We are so excited to share a recent interview between Maryanne Dersch, host of the podcast, The Influential Nonprofit and our Executive Director, Julie Lock. Listen and learn as they discuss our mission in action, who we serve, how we depend on the devotion of hundreds of volunteers, and how we've managed to keep our doors open throughout the pandemic. We are extremely grateful for this opportunity to share information with Maryanne's listeners and dig deeper into the many facets of our organization.

Over the past year, we have increased the number of home deliveries by hundreds to ensure we are getting our one-month nutrition boxes to our clients who need to limit their time away from home. As a result, we are asking for donations for the extra miles and additional vehicle expenses. #GiveSTLDay is this Thursday, May 6th and you can donate early or wait until that day to support our home delivery program. To do so, please go to givestlday.org/foodoutreach. Your generosity will help us go the extra mile for our clients! #thankyouall #supporthomedeliveries

Every Monday, Chef Mike Polcyn, enjoys the expert assistance from two of our regular volunteers, Diana Burnsen and Susan Kottler. Words can't fully express our gratitude for their weekly service to prepare and box the lunches we pass out to our clients that day. These women's personal devotion to our mission provides inspiration to all who witness their kindness, care and compassion. Thank you, Diana and Susan, for your gifts of years of weekly service and support! #wehavethebestvolunteers #thankyouall

#GiveSTLDay is a one day event taking place one week from today, devoted to expanding charitable giving in our community and strengthening our local nonprofit sector. This year, you can donate early, and if you prefer to do so, please go to givestlday.org/foodoutreach and click on the green "Donate Early" button. That way, you can ensure your donation gets counted, and you don't have to sort through all the requests you'll receive that day from many well-deserving nonprofits. We are extremely grateful for any amount of support we receive for our clients who are living with hunger and a diagnosis of HIV or cancer. #thankyouall #HIV #cancer #hunger #donate

Today is Stop Food Waste Day, a time to be mindful about the estimated 76 billion pounds of edible food that goes uneaten each year. At the same time, 1 in every 8 Americans struggles to put food on the table. Check out these tips to reduce food waste in your own home. In addition, consider donating your extra non-perishable foods to a homeless shelter or a food bank to use your future waste to feed others. For food that has already gone bad, consider composting! BLH Farm, New Earth Farm and Perennial City Composting are excellent curbside composting services that can accept your food scraps right here in St. Louis. No matter what you do, any small effort to limit food waste can have a big impact on the environment. #WellnessWednesdays #StopFoodWasteDay #composting #mealplanning
