Fly Fishers at The Crossing 10.06.2021

Each year Matt McClure and I (Kenny Klimes) take a trip to Colorado to do some spring fishing. We book Landon Mayer (one of the top guides in the country) for two days and then fish the rest of the week in rivers that are in the area. This year Matt and I picked Buena Vista , Colorado as our base camp. We stayed in a cabin at the Vista Court Cabins and Lodge in Buena Vista. #AnteroReservoir #ArkansasRiver #BuenaVistaColorado #ColoradoTrip #ElevenMileCanyon #TaylorRiver

Trips: Two More Grads Awesome Fellowship If you check our FATC calendar you will see, we have many trips each month and some trips are more memorable than others this was one of them. Thirteen FATC members joined Dave Broeder and Greg Atchison for their graduation trip from the FATC fly fishing class. #Fellowship #graduation #MontaukStatePark

Dave Beerbower sends us this report from his trip to North Carolina. The weather was warm so I decided to hit the catch and release area of the Watauga River. The water was great and the fish were biting. A beautiful morning with several brookies in the net. They are so colorful. One of my favorites here in the high country. With the BIG camper’s trip happening over the weekend most FATC fly fishers were down at Lake Taneycomo. So only three of us had the opportunity for the graduation of new member, Keeton Keenum. Don Varner joined Kenny Klimes and Keeton on his graduation day and well, Keeton did not need much help. #graduation #MontaukStatePark

Well, our first Taneycomo trip of the year was, well, was not at Taneycomo. We were looking so good until the rains of two weeks ago filled Table Rock lake and caused it to rise over 3 feet. The lake filled up and the water was dumped and dumped and dumped out into Lake Taneycomo. So, as Peyton Manning would yell out at the line of scrimmage when he would call an audible Omaha, Omaha. #BennettSpring #LakeTaneycomo #RoaringRiverStatepark

On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, Bob Ksiazek set out for his graduation trip to Montauk with the Professor (Terry Seaton) as his witness. Bob had taken one of Kenny's first-ever fly fishing classes, at Ellisville United Methodist Church, in the early 2000s. He also took a refresher course a couple of years ago, but he had still never officially "graduated" as a FATC member. #MontaukStatePark

It was a beautiful day to graduate on the water for Bob Wilson. Bob traveled a long way to get this one done. He is one of those Illinois boys. One this day Jim Craig, Barry Dunnegan, Glenn Haake joined Kenny in graduating Bob from the 2021 Winter fly fishing class. Since Bob had to travel a long way, he made a full weekend and then some to fish at Montauk. #graduation #MontaukStatePark

You Can’t Stop Me Now When the rain and wind finally stopped, we had our chance to graduate another FATC student. It was Chris West’s day. We were supposed to do Chris’ graduation trip last Saturday, but rain hit the day before and the resulting effect on the river forced its cancellation. This #graduation #MontaukStatePark

Well, the goal was to get six FATC members graduated from our fly-fishing class in a five-day period. Did Kenny bite off more than he could chew God thought so. So, God stepped in with a little rain to dampen the hopes of this endeavor. Good thing He did! The plan was to get five guys graduated by Saturday morning and throw one more in the barrel on Monday. #graduation #MontaukStatePark

The Miles Meyer Memorial tournament was a huge success this past Monday (March 8th) despite being canceled in February due to weather. We had fourteen FATC members register for the tournament and participate on what turned out to be a glorious weather day. The following FATC members went for the prize to be the top dog at this year’s tournament: #MilesMeyerMemorialTournament #MontaukStatePark #Tournament
