Happy Firefighter Appreciation Day , everyone! We love any reason to celebrate the hardworking men and women of the #FVFPD and hope you’ll join us in expressing appreciation for all they do. Here are just a few of the faces of our team. More to come through the day and week! #wetakecareofpeople #firefighterappreciationday #florissantproud
Good work tonight. Thanks to the Ferguson Fire Department for sharing this video. #fvfpd
Large, complex fires like the one in Affton this week require a huge amount of teamwork on every level. We applaud the firefighters from various departments who navigated difficult and dangerous circumstances to control this fire. We also want to acknowledge the hard work of the STL First Responder Canteen. This group of volunteers dropped everything to respond to this fire and support the crews on scene.... Even though it was not in their usual territory, they did not hesitate to answer the call, providing water, snacks and support to the first responders. Please join us in thanking them for their important work! Photo Credit: St. Louis Post Dispatch
An interesting rescue story today in a case of family dog vs. opossum. The pup chased the opossum under the shed where both animals then got stuck! We used airbags to lift the shed to get them out. Both animals were removed and unharmed. #fvfpd #wetakecareofpeople #anddogs
Would you like to work for a great fire district? You have 1 more week to submit your application and resume for the Office Manager position at the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District. The qualifications, general duties, and application for the position can be found on our website: https://fvfpd.com/about-us/employment/
You have a friend in your smoke alarms! But do they work? This is the perfect time of year to check your batteries and get everything up to speed. We're a few days away from turning back those clocks and that means it's time to check your detectors. #fvfpd https://vimeo.com/365098473
Are ready for the time change? Pro Tip: order those 9 volts (or whichever kind you need) now and be ready to check your smoke detectors next weekend! The National Fire Protection Association reports 71% of smoke alarms that failed to operate had missing, disconnected or dead batteries. Don’t let that happen to you! #FVFPD
Overnight our crews assisted Black Jack Fire Protection District with a working house fire on Aberdeen Drive. One person and one dog were inside the home at the time the fire started. They were able to get out of the home safely on their own. No one was hurt and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. #fvfpd
Here are some photos from a house fire our A Crew responded to on Sunday. The fire was heavily involved when crews arrived to the unoccupied home. Our firefighters stretched two hand lines and managed to secure a hydrant immediately. We’d like to thank Black Jack and Hazelwood for assisting and helping us hold this fire to one alarm. We are also happy to report that no one was injured. #fvfpd
Check out our very own Dep. Chief Mark Flauter on KMOV, explaining the impact of yesterday's red flag warning. Luckily, we did not see any significant fires in our service territory during the red flag period yesterday. Let's hope for a little rain today! #FVFPD https://www.kmov.com//article_6c7866b4-0e0a-11eb-9a63-4734
This afternoon we responded to an attic fire in a single story home in the 1500 block of Matlock Dr. No one was injured and our crews were able to bring this fire under control quickly. #fvfpd
The Florissant Valley Fire Protection District runs a significant number of kitchen fires which turn out to be either food on the stove or started by unattended food on the stove. Please make sure to keep watch on food cooking on the stove.
Late last night we assisted the Berkeley Fire Department in response to a fire in a single family home. Crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions on scene, and 4015 helped with the search and fire attack while 4002 assisted command. No one was home at the time of the fire and none of the crews were injured.... This was a great joint effort from Berkeley, Florissant, Ferguson Hazelwood and Kinloch who were all on scene. #fvfpd #northcountystrong
This morning we responded to a major fire in a single story home in the 1300 block of S. New Florissant Road. The property owner was not home at the time and the house was unoccupied. One person is now in custody for suspected arson.... No one was injured and our crews were able to bring this fire under control quickly. #fvfpd
More photos and information on today’s fire.
Today we worked a very complex fire that broke out at an illegal dumping site in Kinloch, on Schoolway Drive. There were multiple fires on scene, in piles of roofing materials that have been accumulating for years. A commercial building on site also caught fire. Some of these fires were very deep-seated and our attack response required heavy equipment from Ferguson and the Airport Authority to break up the piles.... The situation is now under control and no one was injured. We appreciate the hard work of everyone involved in getting this fire out safely. #fvfpd
We’d like to thank the fine folks at Amore Pizza for dropping off some very tasty lunch for us on Thursday. Aside from delicious pie, Amore is always a huge supporter of local first responders. We appreciate you! #amorepizza #fvfpd #florissantproud
House three has definitely changed over the years, but it’s mission of caring for people has not.
Picture day for this new addition. All cleaned up and we even practiced that smile.
