As I opened Psalm 23 this morning in our month long Worship Journey, this phrase stuck out to me, The Lord is my shepherd. What an amazing thought! The Lord is my Shepherdhere David declares that God, as our shepherd, provides all we need. As a shepherd himself, David defended his flock from attack, the bears or lions, from theft, from the elements and he also guided them to food and water. Here we see the character of God displayed in all that he provides for us. On thi...s side of the cross we can see that God provides salvation through Jesus, God provides comfort and guidance through His Spirit and His Word, and He provides protection from our true enemy, Satan and his workers by His POWER. As we look through God’s word we clearly see God patiently shepherding His people, providing all they need so much so that we shall not be in want. Of course, David is not referring to the desires of the world, but the necessity of the cross and of having a Good Shepherd. Thank you God! Father, today I celebrate You as my good shepherd. Please open my eyes and my heart to all the ways you so perfectly provide for me and my family. Help me to see you today Lord as you lead me.
