We were part of a webinar today where it was all things stimulus, and there is a LOT to know. One of the biggest things is the change to 2020 unemployment taxes. So the American Rescue Plan, also known as the latest stimulus package. You got questions? We have answers! Here's the skinny... 1) Individuals earning up to $75,000 and couples earning up to $150,000 will receive the full direct payments of $1,400 per person. Individuals will also receive an additional $1,400 payment for each dependent claimed on their tax returns.... 2) If you were on unemployment last year, this plan makes up to $10,200 of that income nontaxable. **This is a big one. If you have already filednot to worry, this is absolutely fixable. We are awaiting further specifics from the IRS, but no doubt this is an easy adjustment. Even if you filed on your own, we can help with the amendment filing. This is money in your pocket, don’t let it get away! 3) Child Tax Credit This will temporarily increase the amount to $3,000 for ages 6-17, and $3600 for children under 6.
