Speaker: Venerable Jue JI Change your mind! What is the correlation between changing our minds and practicing Buddhism? To cultivate is to change ourselves to be a better person. In this episode on Building Our Spiritual Practice, Venerable Jue Ji discusses three ways we can cultivate our mind: be a Dharma instrument, find a spiritual guide, and witness the magic work. Changing the mind is a process to manifest the generous, compassionate, wise, and diligent perspectives of the mind. It is an ongoing process that is entirely dependent on ourselves.

THIS WEEK'S DHARMA TEACHING: Buddhist Meditation ((5): The Four Bases of Mindfulness Speaker: Venerable Hui Cheng As we learn to be mindful, we are training ourselves to set and reset the mind on the everchanging physical and mental phenomena. In this final episode on Buddhist meditation, Venerable Hui Cheng discusses the practice of the Four Bases of Mindfulness. The Four Bases of Mindfulness serves as the framework for mindfulness in all areas of one’s moment-by-moment life. It breaks up the practice of developing clear comprehension into a progression from coarser or more apparent objects of meditation to finer, more subtle objects of meditation, and finally to latent mental objects, which are the causes of all afflictions if unwholesome, and the causes of spiritual awakening and joy if wholesome. Meditation is not confined to the meditation cushion. Rather, it is an attitude of life to be maintained at all times.
