Lots of folks are asking, so here's the scoop: Parks and trails are OPEN, playgrounds and buildings are closed. Springfield's stay-home order includes an except...ion "to engage in outdoor activity," specifically "biking, walking, hiking or running." Be smart: stay 6 feet away from anyone you meet, do not gather in groups, and if you're sick, stay home. We need everyone's help making sure our parks and trails stay safe! Swimmers, please read: With school starting in Springfield Tuesday, Aug. 13, the last day of the regular pool season was Sunday, Aug. 11. Most of our lifeguards... and cashiers are students, so it’s not possible to keep pools open during school. Fassnight and Grant Beach pools reopen Saturdays and Sundays only through Labor Day. We have just one pool open Monday, Aug. 12: Grant Beach is open regular hours, 1-6:30 p.m. Despite the heat advisory, we are unable to extend hours Monday night. Sunday, Aug. 11, is the last day of the pool season for Meador Park and Pool, Silver Springs Park and Pool, Westport Park and Pool and McGee-McGregor Pool at Ph...elps Grove Park. Pools at Fassnight Park and Pool and Grant Beach Park and Pool will reopen Saturdays and Sundays only through Labor Day. This week’s US National Weather Service Springfield Missouri heat advisory means Westport Park and Pool stays open until 8 p.m. Wednesday, and Silver Springs Pa...rk and Pool stays open until 8 p.m. Thursday. Pools at Westport, Silver Springs and Grant Beach are already scheduled to stay home open until 8 every Friday and Saturday night in July. Meador is open until 8 and Fassnight is open until 10 Saturday nights in July. PARENTS: please keep your kids and teens out of flooded waterways in parks. This may look like a fun place to play today but it’s actually very dangerous. Lots of spots in parks are underwater due to flooding. Please be safe and stay out of the water. Thank you.
