I’ve had the pleasure of caring for women throughout the COVID situation at varying stages of pregnancy. Some desperately wanting a baby but finding conception to be just out of reach.... Some are just finding out that they are pregnant and now will face the very real fact that the stress of COVID will provide challenges they would not have otherwise experienced. Many others in the final weeks who thought their birth plan was solid. ...And now are uncertain whether their husband will be able to attend the birth or room in with their babies if either parent tests positive. ? Will I be pressured to have an epidural? ? Some are afraid of being pressured and choosing homebirth. One of my families delivered at home and was transported for breathing assistance (unrelated to COVID) and was heartbroken to find out that dad wasn’t able to visit. Another family delivered and was still born. Their heartbreak will not be over when COVID is.
