Our oven fried chicken lunch went over very well--we served 95 meals in less than an hour. Thanks to everyone who helped make this work out and all those who bought meals. This money helps SeniorAge. We are floating the idea of having a cinnamon roll sale on an upcoming Saturday morning as a fundraiser for our Senior Center. We would probably sell pans of six--maybe twelve. We are looking for some feedback from the community about interest in this idea.
Here we go again--Friday will be another hot meal takeout at the senior center. Jennifer and crew will be whipping up: Oven Fried Chicken and all the trimmings.... Suggested donation for folks over 60 is $3.50. People under 60 must pay $6.00. We will serve from 11:30 to 12:30. Just drive in and pick up your meal(s) and head out to the wide open spaces and enjoy!
The Senior Center chose to use Columbus Day as a holiday this year so we could save a later one to celebrate with our veterans. That said, we will be closed Monday. See you Tuesday.
Calling all seniors--and others too. Friday, October 9, Jennifer and crew will be cooking up hot: Ham and Beans Fried Potatoes Corn Bread and more... Jennifer's Ham and Beans always has more ham than beans so you're in for a treat. Suggested donation for those over 60 is only $3.50. Young'uns pay $6.00. Meals are served as a drive-thru only event from 11:30 to 12:30 in the senior center parking lot. See you there! If you normally pick up your week's worth of meals on Friday, just mention that and we'll load you up along with the hot meal.
Come over to the Senior Center Friday October 2 at 10:30 and play bingo in the parking lot, then pick up your meals for the week.
The curbside hot meatloaf meal went over very well. We served over 100 meals Friday. We'll have to do that again!
Get ready for our special Friday meal. Jennifer and friends will be cooking up a hot meal to go. They will be serving her famous Meatloaf with all the trimmings. Like the recent Fish Fry, it will be a drive through event. Everyone is welcome, just make a donation, grab your meal(s) and head out. Folks under 60 must pay $6.00.
Come in a little early Friday and play along with us. After the game, pick up your meals
Saturday's Fish Fry was a resounding success. So much so that we had to turn away several dozen potential customers. We didn't know what to expect with a drive-thru event, so we made the same amount of food this year as we did last year when we ate inside. The food was gone in a little over an hour. We had to send volunteers out to the many vehicles waiting in line in the parking lot and along Orchard Blvd to break the news. Almost all where happy for our success--not so muc...h about their empty bellies. On the assumption that making the event a drive-thru is a real good idea, we will do it this way next year, BUT we will definitely increase the amount food--A LOT. So how successful was it? We would have been happy if we cleared $1,500. After all, we didn't have a bake sale to go along with the fish fry like last year. Well, surprise, surprise, it looks like we will make around $3,800 after expenses. We wouldn't have cleared that much without the help of many individual and company donors. Thanks to everyone who attended the event and a special thanks to the great crew of volunteers who prepared the food and worked at warp speed to fill the sacks, taking them to waiting vehicles and collecting the money. For those who missed out on meals, please accept my apology and come back next year.
The day is finally here. This afternoon is our 4th annual fabulous Fish Fry. We serve from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Remember this is a drive-thru only event--no close contact with other patrons! Please wear a facemask. The current weather forecast shows fair weather this afternoon, so come to our senior center and get your fish fry meal(s) to go. Drive into the parking lot and pull up to the building. Pick up your meal(s) and skedaddle. You'll get a plethora of vittles for only $10 ...(kids under 10 eat for $5). All proceeds go toward paying off our construction loan balance. For you out-of-towners, we are located at 122 S Orchard Blvd. Take 65 to the Fair Grove turn off, take highway 125 east, then right on Orchard. You'll find us up the hill on the left.
We're almost there--only two days to go. Saturday afternoon is our 4th annual fabulous Fish Fry. We serve from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. My mouth is watering as I write this. See you there!
Please don't forget our fish fry this Saturday afternoon (5:00 to 7:00 pm). It's a SAFE bet you'll enjoy your meal without any risk of catching the dreaded coronavirus. Just drive thru the Fair Grove Senior Center parking lot, pick up your fish and other grub, then take it home (or wherever). This will be a win-win situation--you'll get a great meal for $10 ($5 for kids under 10) and we'll make some money to help pay our bills. Hope to see you there!
