Our technicians finished up a service call today on a malfunctioning operator that ended up being nothing more than dirty sensor eyes and presented the customer with a bill of just under a $100. The customer then informed us that she had called out another garage door company to give her an estimate for this problem and they had given her an estimate that totaled more than $2500! Apparently the 1st technician told her that she would have to replac...e her operator because it was too old to even repair. Then, if that were going to be replaced she was going to need a new door which would mean she would need new tracks and a new Spring system. This door and operator had a few years on them but they were by no means too old to repair. A $2400 difference is almost criminal and in some cases it is 100% criminal. Never hesitate to get a second opinion when you are dealing with an unfamiliar product needing repair or an unfamiliar company offering to repair it. Also, never be pressured into making an on the spot decision because any reputable service provider would want you to be comfortable with your decision.
