Time to schedule back to school eye exams. Since many vision problems are impossible to detect by observation, get your child checked even if you think everything is fine. Then you'll have the peace of mind knowing you were right!

While you are enjoying Independence Day, remember to protect your eyes. One of the worst cases I have had was a young boy setting off bottle rockets out of a beer bottle. It exploded and he had hundreds of glass shards embedded in his eyes. 1. Young children should NEVER use fireworks unsupervised, even sparklers. If you are going to set off fireworks, use safety glasses. Play it safe... and opt for a community display. 2. Wear sunglasses - most of the sun damage that causes later eye disease and blindness occurs in childhood.
