I woke up this morning feeling a little disappointed in myself. I've been the owner of a small business for 2 years now and I don’t think I take the time to brag about it. Occasionally I lose sight of how far I’ve grown my small business and I get down in the dumps and I complain...... "I ONLY have a little studio..." "I ONLY made a little money this month..." "I ONLY have __ likes on Facebook..." "It's ONLY been 6 months/1 year/18 months..." EVERY SINGLE TIME I will see my clients grow more confident and more comfortable and leave happy and I remind myself- "You don't "ONLY" anything, Kristen. You're a freaking rockstar. Stop diminishing your successes with that terrible word." I’m not easy on myself, friends. Some days I leave the shop feeling like maybe I could’ve done better and SOMEHOW made a haircut easier for someone who struggles. Do you know why I wanted to open my shop? It wasn't to have a large business. It wasn't to make a million bucks. It CERTAINLY wasn't about Facebook likes. I'm so very passionate about helping people. I was thrilled to have an opportunity to make a difference in my small piece of the world. I wanted to have a space to do business with kindness and integrity being my focus. Gosh, guys. Here I am 2 years into this thing and I want to brag for a second! I've been self-employed for TWO YEARS. I started from scratch building my clientele for a specialty service. I have kept my business open in the midst of a pandemic. My customers are happy and have come SO far. Most are now EXCITED to come, when before they were terrified. I'm so grateful for every single one of you that has helped Extra Care Hair Co. get to where it is today. Thank you for your trust. Thank you for your loyalty. My friends, family, and customers have made my dreams a reality.
