Evolved Personal Training 02.05.2021

2020....While it didn't go quite how us (or anyone for that matter) had planned, we were able to make a move to our new location @ 200 E Southampton Drive and rebrand to more accurately depict who we are and what we do. As Evolved Personal Training we promise to continue to help each client reach goals that matter to them and help as many people in Columbia live leaner, healthier and happier as possible. We are blessed to have served the Columbia community for 11 years and look forward to being the go-to gym for those that want more than a tough workout for many more years.

Evolved Personal Training 29.04.2021

In our attempt to continually improve and add new services, in 2018 we added a state-of-the-art 3D scanner that allows us to track weight, body composition, and more with a quick 30-second scan. Much of our success has come from our ability to continually improve, educate and find ways to help people in ways that matter to them. That is why in 2019, Nate and Scott with the help of Dr. Janine Stichter, were able to publish 'Redefit: Fitness Redefined' in 2019 and use it to help clients to make a difference in facets of fitness beyond just strength, stamina and flexibility.

By 2017, we realized that personal training was a great tool for most but some people getting back into a fitness routine are hesitant (others are straight up intimidated) to jump into a one-on-one training session. With that in mind, we began our group classes. Starting with Flexibility, Core & Conditioning and Fit Females. We have continued to add group classes to help reach specific people with specific fitness needs. ... Like our Fit Over 50 classes that work on strength, flexibility, balance, and more for those wanting to continue to do their favorite things longer or our Fit in 45 classes that will tackle all your fitness needs in under 1 hour for those with a busy schedule.

After a few years of training clients, we realized that being able to put people through tough workouts wasn't the only thing needed in order to make people leaner, healthier and happier. To solve this problem, we began offering Lifestyle Accountability Coaching (LAC) to go beyond just giving our clients tough workouts and start to help them improve other aspects of their life like stress management, nutrition and mindset. These LAC sessions have taken our clients' results beyond the gym and truly allowed them to live leaner, healthier and happier both inside and out of the gym.

As the Columbia Strength & Conditioning community grew, so did our gym. In 2012, we were able to double our space at our original location. As our team grew and improved, we wanted our facility to do the same. Not only did we expand in size but also made some major equipment improvements including adding an infrared sauna. Even with better equipment, more facilities and more experience, there was still something missing. ... March is an important time for us at Evolved because we opened in March of 2010. To celebrate our 11 years in the Columbia community, we will be sharing a small piece of our history each day this week starting with how Evolved Personal Training came about... After working at other gyms around Columbia, Nate and Scott decided to open their own. ... Columbia Strength & Conditioning was founded and while it wasn't the most glamorous gym in town, they built it on the idea of creating a lean, healthy and happy community through customized workouts tailored to each individual and the goals that mattered to them. Tons of things have changed over the last 11 years but the one thing that will always stay the same is our dedication to creating a leaner, healthier and happier community by being Columbia's premier personal training gym. As our community grew, we were able to hire another trainer in 2011 to keep up.

Like us, we are sure you've heard a TON about how to stop the spread of Covid-19 but information on how to reduce risk or reduce serious symptoms is few, far between and hard to verify. That being said, major medical journals published a study recently showing that low levels of Vitamin D was a major factor in the severity of symptoms from Covid positive patients. Other benefits of Vitamin D include increased bone strength, helps your immune system and can fight inflammation. Once you start exercising, you're bound to put on some muscle. For some, this can be alarming because it can cause the scale to move in the direction they are trying to avoid. This can be tough to get used to but there are a ton of benefits of adding some muscle. Aside from making you stronger, new muscles can also help your body perform and function better in surprising ways. Here are three of the benefits of muscles you might not have considered.... 1. Weight control. The more muscle mass you acquire, the more calories you burn. So in addition to looking incredible in a tank top, those traps, lats, and biceps help you maintain your weight! You’ll burn more calories at rest when you have more muscles. 2. Injury prevention. Muscles help protect your joints, which is especially important as you age. Weight training strengthens the tendons along with the muscles, and it also increases the flexibility of the ligaments, which decreases your risk of strains or tears. 3. Improved stamina. At our gym we frequently do many repetitions of a movement with lighter weight, which builds your muscular endurance. This type of strength translates to activities outside the gym, like skiing, biking, running, swimming, and hiking. It is easy to get drug down into a negative mindset, roll your eyes and think "I have to go to the gym today" but it is just as easy to focus on the POSITIVE. Smile and tell yourself you GET to come to the gym today. Changing our "have to's" into "get to's" can have a massive impact on how much we enjoy our tasks and how difficult we perceive these tasks to be. ... It seems so simple and almost silly but waking up and telling yourself that you GET to go to work or you GET to do the laundry can make all the difference in your enjoyment of any task. Shifting to this mindset takes work, and a bit of trial and error to find out what you love. Healthy eating doesn’t look the same for everyone, but it does mean eating mostly unprocessed foods, with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables. Here are some tips for making exercise and healthy eating a part of your life: Eat a treat because you love it -- not because it’s in front of you. If you’re going to indulge, make sure it’s something you truly love, not just a quick sugar fix. Give yourself guidelines. Make a rule, like you won’t drink alcohol during the week, and soon you’ll find these rules become habits. Ask for help. Let the people around you know about your goals, ask for their help, and surround yourself with people who support your focus on health.
