Light snow has begun to develop over southwestern Missouri and will continue to spread northeast across the region this morning. Between 1 and 3 inches of snow ...is expected with locally higher amounts possible. This snow, coupled with rush hour traffic, could make for a hazardous commute this morning, especially along and west of the Mississippi River. Further east, snow will arrive a little later and amounts will be a little less, likely resulting in less of an impact on the morning rush. See more

Tonight the City of Eureka passed a resolution which provides financial relief primarily to our local restaurant industry. The Board unanimously approved Resolu...tion 1-19-21-1 which refunds all City Liquor License Fees for 2020, and waives the fees for 2021. A full service restaurant will save $1,500 ($750 in fees in each of 2020 and 2021). The City has received Federal Cares Act Funds, and is trying to provide targeted help where it can. We hope this this fee waiver is helpful and encouraging for our local restaurants. We encourage other Cities and St. Louis County to consider taking this step. Most cities in our area and the County have received Cares Act funds, and this is a reasonable way to provide targeted relief to people and businesses that have been heavily impacted by the pandemic. To restaurants and residents of other cities, feel free to share this resolution with your local city officials and the county to encourage them to consider taking similar action. I'd be glad to talk to any public official that would like to get information on this resolution. We will also be forwarding it to our St. Louis County Council Representative (Mr. Harder) for their consideration. Thanks, Mayor Flower

The Eureka Police Department, in cooperation with Project ChildSafe, has free gun locks available at the Police building located at 120 City Hall Drive in Eurek...a. These locks are made available to the public to help prevent firearms tragedies among local children. Locks can be picked up Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4 PM excluding holidays. Project ChildSafe is a national program encouraging gun-storage safety. Further information can be obtained at their website: www.projectchildsafe.org
