HOW AMAZING IS THIS?!?!? Lafayette Industries is a sheltered workshop in St. Louis County that has the same mission as we do. They also have an awesome community employment program...like we do, as well! We are so excited for them to have this opportunity in showcasing the potential of our amazing employees & clients!
We can not thank Joey, Emma and his team at Clearview Pressure Washing enough for the great job they did at our North facility & in-kind donation they made to Empac last week! Thanks guys! You get from us!
Thank you Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler for your support!
Employees and Parents/Guardians/Care-givers.... Did you know that we have a private group that is only for our employees? If you have not requested to join, please do so to stay in the loop. (You can also ‘invite’ coworkers to join.) During snow days like these, the our text blasts and the group is the fastest way to stay informed! Hope all of our friends are staying warm and safe!!
Due to the inclement weather, Empac North & South will be closed today, February 15th. Please stay home & safe!
A message from our CEO... I wanted to make sure everyone knows that due to your efforts and the efforts of tens of thousands of people throughout the nation, last night the US Senate removed the elimination of Section 14C from the American Rescue Plan. This does not mean the threat to sheltered workshops is completely over but it is a positive development. I will keep you informed as we move forward. You should be proud of your efforts to effectively advocate on behalf of all people employed by sheltered workshops. Please know how proud I am of all our employees for making their voices heard.

One of our parents asked that we share this.... This is my daughter Samantha. Samantha is 36 years old, resides in Crawford County with me her mother, and her younger brother. Samantha loves her dog Bud, the Backstreet Boys, music, singing, drawing, movies, coloring, her family, her boyfriend (who also work at Empac & in photo) and going to work with her friends at Empac in Sullivan Missouri. She is happy to tell people she works at Empac for six years. Although it may appe...ar to some that those working in sheltered employment are being unfairly treated in the areas of job opportunities and wages, parents/guardians of those with special needs understand the importance of finding the best "fit" for a family member with disabilities. Just as in education, inclusion is not always the answer. I chose the sheltered workshop as the appropriate fit for my Samantha. She has worked at three different sheltered workshops since 2003. (Cuba, Rolla & Sullivan MO.) She like most of her co-workers and staff. Samantha has limitations that prevent her from working in a normal fast food minimum wage job at the same pace and standards as most minimum wage jobs require. She is proud to go to work and earn her own wages, so she can buy her dog Bud things she wants him to have, she loves to shop with her own money that she earns. My employment choice for my Samantha has nothing to do with salary or job title. Empac staff understand her limitations and her capabilities; they praise her for the job she does and they don't judge her or expect her to do things she is unable to do. I know Samantha is surrounded by her friends and feels productive. She is always happy and eager to go to work at Empac. However, Biden's new administration’s proposed stimulus package (American Rescue Plan) puts the job she, and many other disabled adults, loves in jeopardy. Whether you agree or disagree, please remember this is a non-partisan issue...disability doesn't care if you're Republican, Democrat, or any other political affiliation. As a mother with a disabled adult, I personally like to thank you for your support and understanding, without sheltered workshops my Samantha and many others with disabilities would just sit at home, day after day, doing nothing productive. Adults with disabilities need a routine. #save14c #myjobmychoice #missouriateam #empac #tellyourstory Senator Roy Blunt Senator Josh Hawley Blaine Luetkemeyer Congressman Jason Smith Congresswoman Cori Bush Ann Wagner Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler Emanuel Cleaver II Sam Graves Billy Long
