Elmo Volunteer Fire Protection District 26.04.2021

10-11-2020 Elmo Fire responded to a bean field on fire near State Highway KK and Colony Road north of Elmo. Most of the area that burned had already been harvested. Mutual Aid was requested due to extremely strong winds pushing the fire north toward several acres of CRP land. No farm machinery or structures burned and no injuries reported! A big thank you to Clearmont, Braddyville and College Springs fire districts, who assited at the scene! It should be noted that the farmer had a tractor and disc readily available. This is good practice as it did the majority of slowing the spread of the fire.

Slowly but surely we have been able to replace some of the most important piece of equipment we use...our bunker gear. Over the past couple of years we have replaced our bunker gear from head to toe. We now have matching gear that looks sharp and proudly displays our name. For those who don't know, this gear can cost a few thousand dollars a piece and is typically only good for 10 years per United States laws. Mexico does not have this law so much of our old gear was donated... to fire departments in Mexico. As you can see in the photos below, we have the name ELMO on the back of the coat. The coats and pants both have a nice zip and Velcro fasten. The American Flag on the right shoulder. Each set of gear was measured to fit the individual person wearing them. Oh, and they are extremely comfortable! Ever wanted to be a fireman...? Just like the picture, we have plenty of boots to fill!!!
