Chevron backsplash? YES, PLEASE! Incorporating patterns into your tile work is a great way to spice up your kitchen design. I prefer to let the grout lines create the pattern but you can also find some really fun tiles that carry the pattern for each tile and are simpler to install (i.e. less costly). Either way, such an easy way to create some extra wow!

There are so many choices when it comes to your kitchen island design! Don't go on autopilot with this part of your renovation or construction plan. Sure, the standard rectangle may work perfectly for your space. But make sure you at least consider other shapes and features that might add that unique pop to your kitchen. An interior designer can help you think outside the box when drawing up plans, whether you crave additional seating or storage, or want to wow with some standout carpentry!

If you are spending time and money on a custom construction project, your layout should work for you. Don’t let it be a wasted opportunity! A designer can walk you through your best options and may come up with some ideas that you hadn't even thought of. In case you missed my blog post on this topic, you can check it out here! https://ellenkurtzinteriors.com//love-a-good-layout-its-a/

Whether casual or formal, your dining room plays an essential role in your overall home design. It is a gathering place, for holidays or even daily meals. Dressed up or dressed down, you want it to look and feel special. An interior designer can help you create an ambiance so this space is about more than just the meals that are plated. This room should evoke feeling and memories. In my opinion, that is the very best dining experience!

Ever find yourself flummoxed as you try to transition a room from one season to the next? It has happened to all of us! To me, the key is making your space versatile from the get-go. Aim for a fairly neutral color palette or style and think it through for all four seasons. I always ask myself: Can this room transition well, just by swapping out some throw pillows or accessories? If the answer is yes, you are good to go!

It's real folks! We're somehow already into November and that means Thanksgiving is only three weeks away!!! This certainly has been an unsettling year for so many of us, so I thought it would be nice to spend a post focusing on the positive. So tell me, friends: what are you grateful for this year? Obviously, if you are fortunate to be in good health, that's a big one. What else? I have so many things I want to add to my list! Family, friends, a business that I am proud of and love. And, to keep it light for a moment, beautiful rooms like the one above!!!

Ok, so I've been hearing from many of you who say you love seeing Before and After photos. Well, ask and you shall receive! I've been trying to get a lot more of them up on my Facebook and Instagram pages, and I thought everyone could use a little break from election-related posts today This is of a staging project I completed on a magnificent home in Wildwood. I was referred to this project by my friends at Dielmann Sotheby’s International Realty. Right away, I knew it w...as a project for me! When developing my design plan for this home, I considered its strongest selling point a voluminous interior. I wanted a design scheme that would showcase all of that open space, allowing the eye to travel around and drink in the beauty of the home. Interested in seeing more pics of this project? Check out the blog post from back when it was completed! https://ellenkurtzinteriors.com//transitional-staging-pro/ See more

Interested in a behind-the-scenes look at how an interior design business can still deliver for clients in a Covid-19 world??? Check out my latest blog post! I'll walk you through a recent project that started remotely before the pandemic hit, then was forced to continue as an e-design and remote project all the way through to the finishing touches. The team at Mint Construction was AMAZING to work with, and I'm also really grateful to Jessica White Photography for capturing it all! I was really proud of this project, so I'll be eager to hear your thoughts on it in the comments below. Also, tell me: Is there something you would find helpful to you as a client when hiring an interior designer in this current climate? I'm always looking to improve my services! https://ellenkurtzinteriors.com/design-servic/remodeling//

It's that time again....Color of the Year! You know I love it. It's when all of the big-name paint companies announce their favorite shades for the coming year. I always have fun trying to guess the winners in advance, don't you? Well, this year's palette will probably come as no surprise, given how dramatically our world has shifted this past year. We are seeing lots of soothing neutrals and peaceful blues. Sherwin-Williams chose Urbane Bronze, a color that encourages "mindful reflection and renewal." Benjamin Moore went with Aegean Teal, "an intriguing blue-green that creates natural harmony and invites us to take a moment to reflect and reset." Want to hear more? If so, let me know and I'll blog about it!

Trying to sell your home? Looking for ways to make it stand out from others on the market? Staging can help! Here's a before and after from one of my favorite staging projects. Wow! Right? The home is located on Wydown Boulevard, heralded at one of the 10 most beautiful streets in the country. A property on this street should be and now is gorgeous and sophisticated down to every detail. High-end furniture, artwork and accessories my Design To Sell venture provided it all! What do you think? Would you be more inclined to buy the house in Pic #2?
