A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege to be the the recording studio with many talented women while they recorded their own versions of songs from Carol Kings, Tapestry album. While filing I couldn’t help but do a small impromptu shoot with this beauty. A few weeks ago we were shooting a wedding and a storm started to come in. I was standing in between the two buildings watching the sky light up. So I grabbed Mandie and Claude and said, ok stand here and kiss. Hold it until I say stop. Thankfully they were on board and after a couple of tries BOOM! Nailed it! I was just hoping for at least one good shot and some how ended up with a few. I couldn’t decide which one I liked bette though, the whole sky lit up behind the venu...e or the single lightning streak. Either way I was super stoked to be able to capture this for them! I created this set for a food shoot I did a few months back. I loved it so much I snapped off a few shots of just the set before the chef and the food arrived. I kept looking at this photo and it was bringing back memories of being 8 years old and sneaking into my room to watch the Poltergeist after my dad told me not to. He looked at me and said, no. I clearly remember saying, I’m not and promptly going to my room taking the pliers next to my black and white tv (becaus...e I lost the knobs) and turning the channel to the Poltergeist. My dad yelled down the hall, if you watch that and it gives you nightmares and you wake me up you will be in trouble. I yelled back, I’m not watching it DAD, I’m going to bed! two hours later I laid in my bed terrified! It felt like midnight but it was only like 9pm and I found a Royals game to watch. I learned a lot that night. One, I was not ready for scary movies. Two, baseball games would put me to sleep when I was scared. Scroll through What’s the back story? This is one of my favorite conceptual shoots I have ever done. It’s incredible when you have an idea and it plays out exactly the way you want it to. When I work on my conceptual pieces I envision the images based on the light coming together and it came out exactly the way I wanted it to.
