Helen E. Nash!!! I was blessed to have her as my pediatrician. She was the FIRST black person period to work at Children's Hospital in Saint Louis (world renowned care, brought my oldest son back from death, literally) As a doctor Nash changed many things. First she changed the way hygiene was handled in hospitals here. She developed a unit for premature babies that was cleaner than other units. Secondly she also began her own private practice which saw mostly poor and black ...people which worked well since sadly STL, even today, is a wicked racist city. She taught us about sex, contraceptives, prophylactics etc. Not only did she care for children she also cared for the whole family being as though alot of her patients were children of her former patients. Dr. Helen Nash was an amazing woman and she doesn't get enough recognition. But today we give it up to her. In conclusion I'll say be like Dr.Nash. Be fearless. Be confident. Be cool, cause she was cool as a fan. Be willing to go down the road less traveled. Be selfless, but not too selfless.
