COVID Update: At the end of last week, we learned that two high school students tested positive for the virus. There were not any close contacts to notify in these cases. They were last in attendance on Friday, Oct 23rd and Monday, Oct 26th. We will have an updated dashboard tomorrow.

The fastest runners in Missouri will be in Columbia on Thursday for the State Championships. The Herculaneum Boys and Girls teams are both going back to state. The boys are district champs, and the girls took 2nd place in the district.

Pevely Elementary Artwork - After learning about artist Salvador Dali, students took their turn at surrealism. These pieces were created by Gabby Ramos, Ava Schwartz, Brendon Ivie, Kylie Wood, and Kaylee Wood.

District Health Fair - On Thursday before parent-teacher conferences there was a health fair for our employees. The nurses did a wonderful job organizing the event that included flu shots, biometric screenings, yoga, and more. Some adjustments had to be made because Pevely Elementary School lost power overnight. It came back on about 10am Thursday morning.

COVID Update - Yesterday we learned that a 3rd-grade student and a teacher at STMS tested positive for the virus. The teacher also coaches at the high school. They were last in attendance on Friday, October 23rd. All of the direct contacts have been notified. In addition, all parents with children in that elementary school classroom have received an email. (K-12) We have about 1,000 students attending classes in-person and the rest are virtual students.

We are proud to announce that the Dunklin R-5 School District is a Parents as Teachers Blue Ribbon Affiliate. That means families taking advantage of the program are getting great information to help with the development of their kids before kindergarten. Parents as Teachers serving Festus, Crystal City, Dunklin and Jefferson R-7 is funded by 4 school districts to serve southern Jefferson County.

Pevely Teacher Kim Weible received a $125 visa gift card from our insurance company. She took advantage of the new MEUHP Cost Saver Program, allowing her to choose a facility for a non-emergency procedure that is less expensive. This is a voluntary program and the research into pricing at different locations is done by MEUHP.

Town and Country Bank in Pevely has been collecting peanut butter and jelly. Today, they donated their supply to the Dunklin R-5 School District. Although we could affix a dollar amount to the donation, to a hungry kid, it's priceless. Thanks, Town & Country Bank for being a great community partner.
