Our shop was featured in a recent Instore Magazine article https://instoremag.com/jewelry-store-shop-areas/?slide=1 We were one of 13 stores in North America that was recognized for the way we showcase our jewelry shop- on display, for all to see. When you come to visit us, you can see our jewelers hard at work- whether they are working on repairs, or designing a brand new piece of jewelry- you can watch it all, or just wave hello ... We love that our customers can see what goes on behind the scenes!!

Today would have been our founder’s 107th birthday In memory of L.A. Mike Drenon, how about a little Wednesday introduction~ Mike’s entrepreneurial spirit was the driving force behind everything that is now Drenon Jewelry. During WWII he worked as a guard at Lake City. One day his watch broke, and he determined to fix it himself. As it turns out, he was quite skilled in watch repair, and made a side job out of fixing his fellow employees’ broken timepieces. ... In 1945, he decided to turn his hobby of watchmaking into a profession by opening up his own business alongside his wife, Pansy. With only $500 to work with, he constructed his own showcases right in their own living room (much to Pansy’s dismay!!) They chose a small storefront in Fairmount, MO to be the home of Drenon Jewelry. Every day, he carried the entire inventory to and from the store in a shoebox because they could not afford a safe. His love affair with watches, the self-taught art of being able to design and repair jewelry, along with a desire to have true connection with their community were the foundations on which Drenon Jewelry was able to grow and flourish. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing, and he travelled hundreds of times to the most remote lakes of Canada for the best fishing experiences. Another fun fact, his name was not actually Mike His given name was Loren Albert, which he was apparently not too fond of. He received a full-ride scholarship to William Jewell college to play basketball, and his teammates called him Mike- and it stuck. Everyone from that point on knew him as Mike Drenon. However, one of his great-great-granddaughters was affectionately named after him, keeping his namesake alive. His legacy lives on today, and we remember our humble beginnings and his hard work which paved the way for generations to come
