Sitting here enjoying my morning raspberry latte scrolling through pics from the showcase Sunday. Wow! What a wonderful show!!! 60+ performances, 250+ supporters, 4.25 hours of non stop music, young musicians showcasing their progress, conquering fear, gaining confidence, having fun, learning how to perform, manage nerves and the unexpected..... as usual the audience, audio/light tech, venue and employees were UNBELIEVABLE! And then there’s the band...I’ll post separately about them because they deserve a little special . From the bottom of my thank you for supporting my students. These are tough times for some of my students... social distancing, forced precautionary quarantine, virtual learning, limited social interaction, feelings of hopelessness, frustration and isolation. 2020 has forced many changes for these young people that thrive with peer interaction. So, I listen to their hearts with empathy, offering support and encourage them to fill the void with learning, as much as possible. I cherish the relationships and bonds I form with my students. I love hearing about, supporting and encouraging their interests outside of vocal/piano lessons. I’ve been to student plays, tae kwan do belt certifications, baseball and softball games, bday parties, football and soccer games.....young people are soooo interesting! 15 year old piano student Josie Cooksey created this artwork. So proud of bonus son Max. MOST of my students and parents know him as the drummer for the student concert band that takes place at Brewskeez 3x a year. Alot of fun was had this past SundayThe student showcase, Coronacation Vacation, was a HUGE success. Students absolutely slayed their performances.The crowd was, as always, supportive, energetic, and appreciative.Social distancing guidelines were strategically & masterfully managed.3 separate groups were efficiently moved through the venue for a grand total of 220 people over the course of 5.5.hours. AND WE ALL HAD A BLAST. Russ Kasper and the Brewskeez Smokehouse & ...Music crew were unbelievable in helping us execute the show, the food was DELICIOUS, and the band totally rocked. I want to take this time to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, sympathy, kind words, messages, texts, phone calls... I’m so humbled and blessed by it all. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU! My mom was an AMAZING woman, clearly loved and admired by many. I’m looking forward to the Monday visitation (which would have been her 89th birthday) to greet friends & admirers and hear their stories and celebrating her fabulousness on Tuesday. It’s difficult to put into word...s the affect my mom’s death has had on me....although I knew it was eventually going to happen, nothing really could prepare me for this. She is interwoven in me like a knitted blanket- the best parts of me came from her. She lead by example, SHOWING me how to be strong, resilient, ambitious, chill, resourceful and fun loving (kinda ornery). She didn’t just talk the talk, she walked the walk.
