Update on international travel and the new CDC rules- Instead of showing page upon page of lists of hotels and their protocols on here I’ll be reaching out to each of my clients with that information. If you did not book with Deal Travel and Cruises LLC I urge you to contact your booking source for current testing protocols if you have an international trip booked.

As I previously stated, I’ll be passing along information as it happens on the new CDC ruling about testing prior to returning home from an international destination. In just 48 hours much has been accomplished. Many hotels are offering a comp stay for up to 14 days if you do test positive. Stay tuned!

New rules for U.S. passengers returning from an International destination as of January 26, 2021: All inbound passengers, regardless of citizenship status, must get tested no more than 3 days before their flight to the U.S. departs. The test must be a viral test (NAAT or antigen test).... If the passenger has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 3 months, they do not have get tested again but can travel instead with documentation of their positive viral test results and a letter from their healthcare provider or a public health official that states they has been cleared for travel. It is the responsibility of the airline to confirm a COVID-19 negative test result or documentation of recovery for all passengers before boarding, and to deny boarding if such is not presented. Passengers must also fill out a CDC attestation form. The test result must be in the form of written documentation (paper or electronic copy) of a laboratory test, and must include information that identifies the person, a specimen collection date and the type of test administered, as well as verification information, such as the name and contact information for the laboratory that performed the test. Upon arrival in the U.S. CDC recommends, but doesn’t require, that travelers get retested 3-5 days after travel AND stay home or otherwise self-quarantine for 7 days after travel. Note that your state may have more stringent requirements for returning travelers. Importantly, the order allows CDC to grant waivers based on CDC’s determination that a foreign country lacks available COVID-19 testing capacity. This order was signed by the CDC Director on January 12, 2021 and will become effective on January 26, 2021. On a positive note, many destinations and resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean already have these testing sites and abilities in place as Canadians have had to do this to re-enter Canada for some time. The testing and collection of fees can be handled at or near your resort. We will continue to update our clients as information becomes available. This information is changing constantly and destinations are currently in full swing to get this situation handled. You can refer to the CDC website for more information.
