Stay tuned...amp posts will be returning shortly as I complete the new amp cave 2.0!! Much progress has been made and I will be able to start working down in the shop this week. Lots of new test gear. From thermal imaging to usb microscopes feeding two 55 inch monitors. Much more storage space and a 28 foot workbench. Nothing but great things coming soon!! Stay tuned for youtube channel launch as well!!

An amp worse than "Project Fukushima" came back to life today. Blackface Super Reverb caught the clap from getting banged by local techs over the years with no condoms. Project "Penicillin" roared back from the dead. She is now STD free. I opened the amp up and noticed the power transformer looked odd right away. Noticed 4 mismatching nuts and then I noticed the secondaries were colors I didn't recognize. I looked up the number on the trans...nothing. Sure wasn't a fende...r. Those transformers are tough. Takes a lot to smoke one, usually human error. The tube rectifier was gone..socket and all...and a scary looking ss halfwave bridge rectifier had been put in on a terminal strip. There were 2 spragues in the power supply....and 3 cheap gray caps. I replaced them all as a matter of course. Added tube socket back and wired in a new classic tone super Power trans. We now had our tube rectifier back. Tore out an unsafe master volume mod and rebuilt the hacked up bias circuit. Went through and replaced all the cheap junk caps in the entire amp. Went back with juicy orange drops...because a part of fenders sound came from the poly caps, and carbon comps, correct values. All that matters. I replaced missing, incorrect, and out of spec components through the whole amp. Plate load resistors were crackling like Bacon on a weekend. Every speaker nut was loose...damn near though they were all blown..till I looked back there. She has a simple trainwreck style post phase inverter master volume. Not my cup of tea on a super...but owner wanted it to stay...so I used a different way to do it that is better. Many more like this coming up very soon. All the basket cases are close to life again. The super is now a super again. It was the most lifeless dull clapped out amp I ever heard. It had been raped and its soul was in jeopardy. She is a happy, sweet, clean, spanky fender with a little of that blackface honk to her.

My beloved Deluxe reverb reissue, before I was brainwashed into selling it.

Marshall DSL cap job. Most of the original runs ofDSL and TSL's are all showing up with bulging caps. Let me take a peak before its too late.....
