We believe what children have to say about their abuse. We engage in active listening to patiently, carefully, and compassionately hear a child’s story. The CPC’s forensic interviewers are specially trained to conduct interviews with children. Interviews are recorded so that children only have to share their story once. Recording interviews also preserves a child’s statement for legal purposes. In this way, children’s voices are heard and honored. In 1996, fewer than 350 children received forensic interviews; that number grew to 827 by 2010. Since 1996 more than 16,000 children and their families have been served.
