CDC continues to recommend that people get their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine as close to the recommended interval as possible (3 weeks for Pfizer-BioNTech, and one month for Moderna). CDC’s updated guidance was revised to allow for second dose administration up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first if it is not feasible to adhere to the recommended interval. CDC is not advocating for people to delay getting their second dose, but the data from clinical trials support this range.

December 4, 2020 Covid-19 Quarantine and Testing adjustments In response to the recent Centers for Disease Control changes the Cooper County Public Health will support the following changes: ... A fourteen-day quarantine for individuals exposed to covid-19 may be reduced to seven days under the following conditions: The exposed individual must be symptom free and receive a negative nasal pharyngeal PCR or rapid NASAL test on day seven or later. The test results must be submitted to the local school district, employer, or to our office before a letter of quarantine release may be issued from our office. Testing on day 5 will not be accepted by the Cooper County Public Health Center due to increased risk of developing COVID-19 between 5-7 days from exposure. The Cooper County Public Health Center provides PCR testing free of charge by appointment for Cooper County residents only. Priority patients for testing will be for symptomatic patients. Individuals wanting to test out of quarantine on day seven should call after 10:00AM each day for an appointment if there are open testing slots available. Starting January 1, 2021 Individuals whose employers require weekly and bi-weekly surveillance testing will no longer be provided by the CCPHC. Those employers and employees need to find a private testing facility to meet their employment needs. Thank you very much. Melanie Hutton RN, MSN Administrator

Staffing for services such as influenza, school immunizations and covid testing are flexed up and down depending upon demand and need. So not all services are available at any given time. We realize that is difficult for the public to understand. However, please be patient we are juggling staffing, training, access to supplies, and vaccine. In an ideal world, we would have funds for adequate staffing, supplies and accessible to the public 24/7. Realistically, our funds are li...mited, staffing and nurses remain limited. Testing supplies, PPE and vaccine remain limited. We no longer have a hospital and our physician services are also decreased. Our office is expected to change services with every news report. We are working extremely hard to serve our citizens with resources we have available and with the best recommended medical practices. Thank you! Melanie Hutton RN,MSN Administrator
