The Columbia Police Foundation was honored to sponsor this vital training for various agencies in Boone County. There were no costs to local agencies to attend. Members of the Columbia Police Department, University of Missouri Police Department, Columbia Fire Department, and Boone County Joint Communications are now equipped with the tools they need as they establish a peer support program and network throughout Boone County. Former CPD Chief and Foundation Chair Randy Boehm... said it best, "First responders spend their careers taking care of others while experiencing great stress and unimaginable trauma. Sometimes, we forget to take care of ourselves and each other." A big thank you to the Warrior's Rest Foundation for facilitating this training and to the Columbia Police Department for hosting at their training facility. Stoney Creek Inn also donated lodging to the Foundation for the visiting instructors, so more funds could be freed up to send more participants.

Today is National First Responders Day. The concurrent resolution by the United States Congress recognizes First Responders for their commitment to safety, defense, and honor. We at the Columbia Police Foundation are honored to support the members of the Columbia Police Department and of Boone County. This week, various department members are participating in peer support training sponsored by the Columbia Police Foundation. This training will give much needed resources to ...the officers who face trauma and stress on a daily basis. THANK YOU to all our First Responders.

UPDATE: Last month, Adam donated his birthday money to the police officers via the Columbia Police Foundation. After seeing Adam’s generosity, an anonymous citizen wanted to make sure Adam got to spend some money on himself. The amazing citizen gave Adam some birthday money on the condition he spend it on himself. CPD Sergeant and Foundation board member Clint Sinclair delivered the gift to Adam. Adam’s mother told Sergeant Sinclair Adam has been eyeing some new sneakers . THANK YOU to the anonymous citizen!
