Such a great time talking with our customers! This story, 'Memory Lane'... Joe Gaines from Melville, MO (and Amber, who tells this story) drove in on their motorcycle yesterday. When they were seated, I asked them, "are you traveling today?" Let the smiles begin.... Joe, when he was about 4 years old started fishing with his dad in Boeuf Creek, when he was 9 years old The Colony House opened, (1980) and every fishing trip they ate here. He hasn't been fishing since his dad ...passed away several years ago but Sunday they jumped on the bike and took a trip down memory lane. Joe couldn't wait to eat here again and hoped it was still open. Delighted he was! And the same owners! Even the same floor! That made his day! (Joe is in his 40's now.)They stopped at several of the places he and his dad used to go. We filled them in a number of new things in our area also. We really enjoy times like this. Reminiscing with customers and friends is always great! See more

We have so many interesting people that come to The Colony House. Today, Frank Chiarelli came in pulling a wheeled carrier. Catching my interest, I asked him where he was headed. 'I'm walking across America' he said. Quite a trek. Any particular reason, I queried. In Chicago, drugs and gang violence are out of control. My walk is to bring awareness to this and hopefully help do something to end it. My walk started in Delaware and I'm about 1100 miles in at 77 days.......
