Hope for the Fatherless Colonial Foster Adopt Ministry

Colonial Presbyterian Church 05.11.2020

ReadEphesians 6:10-19; 1 Corinthian 13:6 (NIV) Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Think/Act: One of the greatest challenges to the Church today is that in so many ways it is imitating the world. We are admonished to be holy as He is holy. I read somewhere that LOVE does not wink at sin and never condones wickedness and unrighteousness. So how then do we combat the challenges facing us within the culture we live in? We remember. Remember the go...odness of the Lord in the land of the living. Remember all the promises He has fulfilled and the times He carried us through a trial. Remember to put on the Armor of God and hold fast! As believers in Christ, one with Him, remember that His life is our life; His power is our power; His truth is our truth; His way is our way; and His strength is our strength. Even a little power is enough to preserve and keep, because it is the Lord’s supernatural power--Dunamis! Philippians 4:13 says, I can do all things through him who strengthens me. He is the source of our strength and we appropriate it through grace, prayer, knowing and obeying the Word of faith in His promises. Where is the focus for your thoughts? What or who are you relying on for strength? Pray: Dear Lord our God, You are the strength of our lives, our fortress and our refuge. You never forget us, not for one moment. Thank you for keeping us forever in your care, even in those times when we thought we were all alone and find later that You were moving in us, filling and replenishing us. We humble ourselves before You for You alone are holy, You alone are God. Thank You that Your great desire for us who believe is the we feel secure in Your love that You have guaranteed by Your Holy Spirit in us. Bless You Lord for Your great care of us!

The Armor of God by Donna Jenkins ReadEphesians 6:10-19: Proverbs 4:23 Think/Act: On the heels of the recent election, our country has been held captive by all the questions, all the concerns, all the divisive language and accusations and even normal everyday options that have been limited. The battle rages on every sidewith Covid-19 not yet contained, the wide-chasm of our political parties, the economic ordeal, and the overabundance of uncertainties. It can be a time of d...iscouragement and dismay, if we are not aligned with the guidance of our Lord, and the unchangeable promises He would have us cling and commit to. Proverbs 4:23 advises us to Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. In life, there will be opposition, hardships and conflicts but God has told us in His word to be on the alert! Our walk in Christ is one of contrasts: humility vs pride; unity vs divisiveness; new self vs old self; love vs lust; light vs darkness; fullness of the Spirit vs carnality; and mutual submission vs self-serving independence. Paul and the Apostles ministries grew stronger as opposition developed and intensified. They matured based on their dependence of God’s strength. Jesus’ reliance on His Heavenly Father was absolute and His dependence on God’s Word was proven. When conflicts arose, our Savior, the Son of God and fully God, responded with reliance on Truththe Truth of God’s Word. As believers we ae called to stay close to the source of our power and help, His Word, and to prayer and Christian fellowship. We are encouraged to praise the Lord at all times, through all things. What steps are you taking to guard your heart and mind from all the difficulties of this current state of our lives and our country? Pray: Dear Lord, with arms and hearts lifted we praise Your holy name. Mold us, and use us, Lord, as Your body, to fulfill Your plans and purposes. Refresh us with Your word as we place our hope and confidence in You. Help us to pray unceasingly and to P.U.S.H.--pray until something happens! To You be the glory now and forever. Amen.

ReadJer. 29:7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent youand pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. 1 Timothy 2:1-4; 1 John 5:14-15 Think/Act: As the body of Christ: pray and give thanks! God’s word advises us to pray for the leaders of our country not only for them to have the wisdom they need to govern but that multitudes will come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. We have a God-given privilege to pray and this special... right should guide us to perseverance in asking, seeking and standing solidly on His promises with regard to our leaders. God remains sovereign even in the growing disillusionment we see in our country’s political systems. We are called to honor and pray for our leaders and that justice and truth will succeed. In the love of Christ, giving thanks in all things, with persistence in prayer and eyes focused on Jesus, the trajectory can change---the mission will evolve with His love guiding us from a hurting culture into the light of liberty in Jesus Christ! It is in the forgetting of self and yielding ourselves to live for God and His honor that enlarges the heart, that teaches us to regard everything in the light of God and His will and that (we recognize) in everything around us the need of God’s help and blessing, an opportunity for (Him to be glorified). (And when our souls turn) wholly to God, our life becomes prayer. Andrew Murray Pray: Heavenly Father, we ask and keep on asking with heartfelt and persistent prayer that justice would run down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream flowing abundantly. (Amos 5:25) We pray that your body, your church would be able to accomplish much as we lean on and look to you. Our hope and trust is in you, O Lord! You have placed your common grace on human government. May we in all confidence say, the Lord is our helper; we will not fear! Open our hearts and minds to the possibilities of a life praying in the Spirit unceasingly in You. For Your honor and glory!
