Eighth grade Medical Detective students are learning how to conduct an experiment using the process of Experimental Design. Students are investigating whether hand sanitizer or soap and water are more effective at killing germs by swabbing their hands and growing bacteria. This medical unit is part of the STEM/Project Lead the Way class at Clinton Middle School. In this class, students participate in hands-on collaborative problem solving focused on real-world challenges, ultimately connecting their learning to life. #CardinalPride

We haven't seen much of that white stuff this winter, so students in Mrs. Petry's class made some of their own. Students recently read the story, "The Snowy Day". Students then discussed story elements (characters, setting, problem and solution), and how the story progressed through the beginning, middle and end of the book. For fun, students created the book's main character and used shaving cream as snow to retell their favorite part of the story. These story retell activi...ties help students to fully understand what they have read, as well as provides for a deeper level of comprehension. These skills are important for students as they learn to read and write. #CardinalPride

The Clinton School District has received confirmation of 1 positive COVID-19 case at Clinton Early Childhood Center. This brings the total number of active cases to 8. The Henry County Health Center is in the process of conducting contact tracing, most of which is complete. The District has been in constant communication, and cooperating fully, with the Henry County Health Center as they perform the necessary contact tracing and we will continue to follow their guidance.... The Henry County Health Center is responsible for contacting students/staff who need to quarantine due to close contact with the individual who tested positive. If you are not contacted by the Henry County Health Center or the school district instructing your child to quarantine, your child can continue to attend school. The Clinton School District is following cleaning and disinfecting procedures so that schools can remain open. Clinton School District students, staff, and community members should continue to use the Daily Self-Screening Checklist and should stay home if displaying symptoms of COVID-19. As we navigate situations such as this, please be assured that the health and safety of our students and staff are of utmost importance. Clinton Intermediate School students and staff came back to a fun surprise this morning. Due to construction at CIS, the cafeteria is closed and the entrance has been boarded up with plywood. Art teacher, Mrs. McCoy wanted to brighten up the plywood and bring some joy to the space and we think she accomplished her goal with this beautiful masterpiece. Wondering what's going on behind the new artwork? Check out the pictures below of the demolition that took place last week.... #CardinalPride

It might be winter, but it looks like spring in the CHS greenhouse! As you can tell from the pictures below, Clinton High School horticulture students in Mr. Robertson's class have done an exceptional job with this year's greenhouse. Students started all of of the tomato, cucumber, and bell pepper plants from seed. They also did cuttings of ornamental plants. A big shoutout to CHS senior and FFA officer, Victor Chapa. Victor has been a driving force behind the success of this... year's greenhouse operation as well as a natural leader in the classroom. CHS horticulture students are involved with the horticulture process from production to marketing, and spend approximately 50% of their class time involved in hands on greenhouse activities. #CardinalPride
