Now that the turkey is gone and Black Friday is over, please consider shopping small. In Clarksville you will be supporting the owners and employees of several small businesses. Thank you for buying handmade in the USA and supporting working artists.

Today's featured artisan is Erin Garrison of The Great River Road Pottery & Wood Shop. You know you're an experienced potter when you can throw pots wearing a cream colored sweater! Erin creates unique stoneware pottery, specializing in original wild flower design brushwork on an eggshell colored clay body. Her collection includes a complete line of oven and table ware, a variety of decorative, functional oil lamps and, for the garden enthusiast, flower pots, planters and ...bird feeders. Each piece is wheel-thrown or hand-built by the artist. This high-fire stoneware is oven, microwave and dishwasher safe and the glazes are lead free. Her work is so lovely, functional and made to last. We fight over Erin's soup bowls at our house. : ) We urge you to come in during this weekend's 50 Miles of Art tour and see the beautiful handmade Christmas ornaments, angels, stoneware mugs, bread bakers and so much more! This is an awesome place to buy gifts.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for this very special Event! Saturday & Sunday, November 4 & 5 Clarksville, MO 50 Miles of Art is a weekend tour of working artisans and t...heir shops, focused on the real lives and crafts of living art. HANDMADE is something that has recently made a comeback, thanks to specialty sites like Etsy and Indieme. In many artforms, however, serious craftsmanship is a dying art. LEARN about woodworking, pottery, painting, photography. SEE things being made & maybe even try your hand at it. OWN a piece of American craftsmanship; take something home. For now, just mark your calendars. We will be rolling out our list of special activities, demos and treats as the event gets closer. Just a little sample.... This year I will be helping visitors make their own "stained glass" ornament using alcohol inks. All supplies provided, learning is FREE and you get to take your ornament home the same day!!!! Stay tuned, folks. This year is going to be FABULOUS!
