HEADS UP IF YOU LEAVE VEHICLES PARKED ON THE STREET FOR EXTENDED PERIODS IN THE BUSINESS DISTRICTS: I have asked the legislature to review our parking ordinance...s and offer a specific restriction for the extended parking of non-motorized vehicles along city streets. We are receiving numerous complaints about trailers being stored on city streets, particularly in the downtown business district. I have requested that the PD vigorously enforce the 24 hour limit for street parking. I have limited this request to business districts or where specific complaints are received. If you have a difficulty moving a trailer or vehicle which is not in compliance, PLEASE give me a call or drop me a note. I'll be glad to accommodate additional time to resolve any issue as long as we have a plan for resolution in place. ...I am not interested in ticketing people; but we need to address the parking issue. THANKS!

CHAMP CLARK BRIDGE PLEASE HELP BY THURSDAY! I am briefly presenting to the Missouri Highway Commission in Jefferson City next Tuesday, March 10th. Along with t...he Northeast District of MODOT I am asking the commission to make the Champ Clark Bridge the number one large bridge project in their state-wide funding pool. This is a very important meeting. As much as we need to keep the commission focused on the bridge project, we also need to arm them with data and testimony. Missouri Department of Economic Development (and MERIC) was not able to help me with the economic impact study I had hoped for. This leaves me relying largely on anecdote. That’s not all bad; others will be presenting lots of facts and numbers. It does mean that I need to shift my message to do the street-level testimonials which will humanize the impact. I am asking you to please provide me with testimony regarding the economic importance of the Champ Clark Bridge. For example: How does the bridge’s temporary closure affect your job or business? What if it were permanently closed? Specific detail rather than it would be bad will be most helpful. Would you have to reduce staff or close? Would you be less competitive? Would your costs increase? Etcetera If you know of someone else who might provide a good quote, please forward to them this request. I need this by Thursday to pull my presentation together. THANKS IN ADVANCE! FP Post or message, or email me at [email protected] .

Our Louisiana Elks Lodge #791 Donated $1,000 to the Louisiana Fire Department toward the purchase of a camera that cost $8,000. This donation has brought Chief Mike Lesley’s fund raising up to $4,200... Just a smidgen over the 50% mark. Not being technically savvy about these tools all I can tell you is that many times this camera is the only means our Firemen have to see by in a burning building This one piece of equipment could be the instrument of survival for a child ...trapped in a burning home or an incapacitated adult overcome by smoke or even the saving of a burning home by allowing the firemen to see where the fire is and effectively fight it. If anyone would like to make a donation toward the purchase of this camera just grab Chief Lesley or any fireman and shove a dollar in their hand make it more if you want Who knows it might be your home the firemen need this camera to save.
