NEWS RELEASE Crocker Police Department taking back unwanted prescription drugs October 24 at Crocker City Hall... Crocker, MO On Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Crocker Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will provide the public the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to Crocker City Hall at 108 S. Commercial Street, Crocker, Mo. (Sites cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps, only pills or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. This October's event is DEA’s 19th nationwide event since its inception 10 years ago. Last fall, Americans turned in nearly 883,000 pounds of prescription drugs at nearly 6,300 sites operated by the DEA and almost 5,000 of its state and local law enforcement partners. DEA, along with its law enforcement partners, has now collected nearly 6,350 tons of expired, unused, and unwanted prescription medications since the inception of the National Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative in 2010. To keep everyone safe, collection sites will follow local COVID-19 guidelines and regulations. This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the United States are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. In addition to DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, there are many other ways to dispose of unwanted prescription drugs every day, including the 11,000 authorized collectors that are available all year long. For more information, visit DEA’s year-round collection site locator. The FDA also provides information on how to properly dispose of prescription drugs. More information is available here: https://www.fda.gov//where-and-how-dispose-unused-medicines. For more information about the disposal of prescription drugs or about the October 24 Take Back Day event, go to www.DEATakeBack.com.

***PRESS RELEASE*** On 10/14/20 at approximately 1126 hours, the City of Crocker Police Department was notified of a driver who was exhibiting erratic behavior and possessed a firearm in a parking lot of an establishment located within City limits. Upon arrival, Chief of Police (Nick Pappas) observed a vehicle matching the description, blocked it’s path of travel with the patrol vehicle, initiated contact with a female driver who he had recognized from several law enforcemen...t encounters and was exhibiting erratic behavior. While Pappas was conducting an investigation into the driver, she attempted to flee in the vehicle. Pappas got her to stop momentarily by using verbal commands and he attempted to open the door and remove the driver, at which time she pulled forward, nearly striking Pappas and drove onto a curb between the patrol vehicle and a sign. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, which was estimated to be over 90 miles per hour through the downtown portion of Crocker. The pursuit was terminated in a short distance due to safety concerns. The suspect was later located at a residence on the outskirts of Crocker by Deputies of the Pulaski Sheriff's Department and was taken into custody without any further incident. She was transported to the Pulaski County Jail, where she will be held on a 24 hour investigative hold pending charges. A Statement of Probable Cause has been filed with the Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney recommending the charges of Fourth Degree Assault on Law Enforcement, Tampering in the First Degree, Resisting Arrest and Careless and Imprudent Driving. The Crocker Police Department appreciates the support and assistance of the Deputies who responded and assisted in the investigation. The City of Crocker Police Department reminds everyone that these charges are merely an accusation and these individuals remain innocent until proven guilty. See more
