LIMITED ACCESS TO CITY HALL: Due to the significant surge in COVID-19 cases in Mississippi County, there will be no general public access to City Hall until further notice. Please use the drive-thru lane on the north end of the building to pay water bills, etc. If you need to talk to someone in City Hall in person, please call 573-683-3325 to make arrangements and remember that you must wear a mask inside the building. Hopefully, this limited access won't be necessary for very long.

LEAF COLLECTION: The leaf vacuum is now back in operation and working perfectly! It is going to take a few days to get caught up, so be patient. But, we are finally back in business. MASKS AT CITY HALL: If you are coming to City Hall to conduct business, you must wear a face mask inside the building. We encourage everyone to use the drive-thru window for routine business. Your cooperation is appreciated.

LEAF COLLECTION UPDATE: We are still waiting for a part to arrive so our leaf vacuum can be repaired and put back into operation. The part we need has been shipped. Now we wait for it to arrive. There is not much we can do about the leaves piled up on the streets until the leaf vac is repaired. Once we get it going again, it will take a week to get caught up. We hope to have the leaf vac running again sometime this week, but, we also hoped to have it running last week. In the meantime, we are doing what we can with the street sweeper, but that's a poor way to clean-up leaves. We apologize for the inconvenience. Just be patient, and it will all work out in the end.

TRICK OR TREAT RULES: Just a reminder that Trick or Treating is limited to the hours between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31st. Many towns have canceled Trick or Treating this year due to COVID-19 concerns, and that is an understandable position. But, we have chosen to let Trick or Treating go on as usual. However, it is very important that everyone follow the rules and be careful about social distancing. Residents are urged to be careful when handing out treats. It's been a tough six months on the kids, so let's try to give them one evening of safe fun.

MORE INFO ON TRASH SCHEDULE CHANGE: Remember, starting October 12, residents that have trash picked up on Thursday are being shifted to either Monday or Tuesday pick-up. (Current Monday and Tuesday pick-ups remain the same.) So, if you are a current Thursday pick-up, which day will you be shifted to? Basically, it works like this: If you live south of Marshall St., you will be shifted to MONDAY trash collection.... If you live north of Marshall St. AND east of Stark St., you will be shifted to MONDAY trash collection. If you live north of Marshall St. AND also live between N. Fifth St. and Stark St. (including Stark St.), you will be shifted to TUESDAY trash collection. It's really not as confusing as you might first think. You will soon be receiving a card from Republic Services confirming your new trash collection date. Remember, the change starts on Monday, October 12. Until then, everything remains the same.

TRASH COLLECTION CHANGE COMING: Through Friday, October 9, trash collection in Charleston will remain the same as it has always been. But, starting Monday, October 12, Republic Services is changing the pickup schedule in Charleston, (yes, they have the right to do that). Customers who are serviced on Monday and Tuesday will not be affected at all; those customers will continue to be serviced on Monday and Tuesday. But, customers who have their trash picked up on Thursday will be switched to either Monday or Tuesday starting on Monday, October 12. We will provide more information shortly to let you know exactly which day each Thursday customer is being switched to. Republic Services is also mailing postcards to each customer with this information. If we all just mark our calendars, the change can go very smoothly.
