STAY WEATHER AWARE! The US National Weather Service Kansas City Missouri has issued a Winter Storm Warning that will be in effect from midnight tonight until 8 pm tomorrow evening. Heavy mixed precipitation is expected with snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches. Needless to say, travel may be dangerous and should be limited. Please help our maintenance crew maintain their curb-to-curb plow efforts by parking vehicles in garages or driveways overnight tonight. To all residents: As you may know, the Green Hills Road Project will start on Monday January 4th. Today, I received the latest update with regard to the closure at our Green Hills entrance. Please note that there has been a change as to the side of the road that will be closed. This is a change due to the water main work that needed to be completed first on the south side of our entrance. I will continue to monitor any updates with regard to this project. Dennis Todd... Green Hills Road from NW Platte Brooke Drive to NW 78th Street. Beginning the week of January 4th 2021, Amino Brothers Company Inc. will begin construction of the new waterline. This work will require a road closure of N. Green Hills Road from Shore Drive to Platte Brooke Drive from approximately January 4th to March 15th. These dates are subject to change due to unforeseen conditions and weather permitting. The intersections of Shore Drive and Platte Brooke Drive will still be accessible for local traffic. Drivers will access Shore Drive from the north and Platte Brooke Drive from the south. All EMS vehicles will have access to the area in case of emergency. Due to Missouri American Water retiring a portion of a water main in Platte Woods tomorrow, water to the entire City of Lake Waukomis will be OFF from approximately 8 AM to 11 AM as long as everything goes according to plan. Bringing you the gift of a little magic this Christmas -anonymous- Today is the day that Santa will make a special visit to Lake Waukomis. Santa informed me that he plans to be coming around the Lake in his Boat Sleigh this morning. He plans to be here around 9am and will travel from the 100 block around to the 1100 block. Listen for the sirens from the police car escort. Santa will be ...right behind. A quick note from Santa: Please let everyone know that I am so excited to be seeing everyone around the Lake this year. I only ask that we say hello from a distance as I pass out candy in sealed plastic bags to all the beautiful children of Lake Waukomis. Due to Covid, we won’t be able to have the children come up close to the boat sleigh, but know that I love seeing you all. NOTICE: A Platte County Sheriff Deputy contacted me this morning and said there had been a report this morning of a black car driving around the Lake and opening up mail boxes. When he responded, he did not see any vehicle of that description, however, he did see several mail boxes open in different areas. In the case that someone was expecting a package and you don't have it, he wanted to make everyone aware. Also, he made me aware of the option to sign up with USPS to get notifications on your mail being delivered. To all residents: Today the Platte County Sheriff’s Department conducted a sobriety and safety checkpoint. First of all, let me say that I was NEVER informed prior to this event that there would be a checkpoint set up in Lake Waukomis. I do not take offense that I was not informed of an exact time and date as these are many times set up randomly.
