Due to the threat of severe weather, the Gallatin Police Department would like to remind you that Gallatin's storm shelter is located in the basement of the Daviess County Library (306 W. Grand rear entrance). This shelter will be open whenever a tornado threatens the Gallatin area.

Expect patchy light freezing rain/drizzle starting noon tomorrow through noon on Wednesday. While precipitation will be light and intermittent, expect ice accumulations of 0.10 or less. Hazardous road conditions may develop, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Here's the latest update on expected snowfall totals tonight into Saturday, along with where the Winter Storm Advisory's and Warning's are in effect for. A win...ter storm is expected to move into the area this afternoon, spreading across all of eastern Kansas and Missouri this evening. Some areas will start as rain before a brief changeover to sleet and then snow. The heaviest snow totals are expected across northern Missouri where 6 - 12 inches are possible from this afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Along the Interstate 70 corridor including the KC Metro 2 to 4 inches are expected. Further south 1 to 2 inches are expected. The snow and rain that refreezes as temperatures drop on tonight will cause icy roadways. Extreme caution will be needed tonight and Saturday morning if travelling. Snow will move out of the area by mid-afternoon Saturday with a very cold air mass sweeping in behind it. Lows Sunday morning will be in the single digits with wind chills in the single digits below zero. See more
