Curfews have been lifted in Honduras & the COVID vaccine will be available in April or May to help slow the spread. On top of the pandemic, the greatest need for families here is help with recovering from the impact of hurricanes. "I feel bad. I miss my house, but I am afraid to come back." - Jose... Because of your support, we're helping families with food baskets & multiplying good for siblings Jose & Maria during this hard time. #MultiplyGoodMondays
In India, the impacts of COVID go beyond health. Public transportation is still operating at a limited capacity, causing families to miss work. In fact, in the communities we serve, the lockdowns have left nearly 80% of the population jobless mostly daily-wage earners. In Zambia, primary and secondary schools are currently operating normally, but community centers are currently only open to staff who are helping programs remain virtual. Ackson, Erasmus & Micheal in our Lusaka tutoring program are staying engaged in school at home with the books our volunteers delivered. Because of you, we're continuing to #multiplygood!
To continue slowing the spread of COVID-19 and adapt to the immediate needs of families, volunteers meet weekly at our community centers for training on distancing protocols, child protection, biosafety & more. In Ecuador, Irma and fellow volunteers received hygiene kits for families, including gel alcohol and masks to deliver to families in the community. #MultiplyGoodMonday
#Throwback to the #Halloween celebration at our community center in Colombia! Happy Halloween from our global communities!
Because of you, we've been able to meet the immediate needs of children & families. This unprecedented year continues to inspire us to find creative ways to #multiplygood across our global communities. This past month we helped families stay afloat: Volunteers taught handwashing courses to youth & families in our Guatemalan community.... Caring teachers in Colombia delivered music supplies directly to children in our music program to keep them engaged. Hygiene kits were distributed at the community center in Ecuador to families who were laid off. See more
Children in poverty deal with anxiety each day, making them more vulnerable to mental health struggles - especially during a crisis. To combat this, we're scaling up our emotional wellness program to help children stay resilient when it matters most. See how it's helping sponsored families right now: https://chldrn.org/3lpipEo

Throughout the pandemic, we've found creative ways to keep children engaged & still participate in programs even though community centers have been closed. In Colombia, music teachers distributed music supplies to children in our music program. Stay tuned to see more ways we're helping our global communities!
With the United Nations shining a spotlight on both mental health and poverty eradication in October, Natalie Foxworthy, Director of Global Programs, discusses how Children International has pivoted during a global pandemic, adapting our poverty-eradicating programs to meet the rapidly-altered needs of the disadvantaged populations we serve around the world. https://chldrn.org/35aUCBW
"If we want to achieve our goal, then let us empower ourselves with the weapon of knowledge, and let us shield ourselves with unity and togetherness. - Malala Yousafzai When children & youth have access to opportunities, they have hope for a better future. Thank you, Malala Fund for inspiring our future leaders & changemakers like Aira! #MotivationMonday
Handwashing alone can reduce the risk and spread of life-threatening diseases. It's estimated that proper handwashing with soap and water reduces global diarrhea-associated deaths by as much as 50%. The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered families to be more conscious about hygiene practices - and volunteers across our global communities have worked around the clock to educate & distribute supplies. In Guatemala, siblings Krista & Edgar are thankful for the sanitizer bottles they received.
Chanchal, sponsored teen and education coordinator at the learning resource center in Delhi is multiplying good in her community. Here, she's helping children with a low level of learning to amplify their voices. "Children get a platform where their talents are seen and they can further pursue their talents." - Chanchal We're inspired by girls like Chanchal across our global communities who are staying resilient & motivated to explore their inner strengths. https://chldrn.org.../2Ff8TVe #GenderEquality #GirlsRights #AmplifyHer #DayoftheGirl #InternationalDayoftheGirl
