CHES is dedicated to connecting with the community and promoting resources. This tax season Holy Rosary Credit Union is providing on-site, free tax preparation assistance as a VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) site. The VITA program offers free tax preparation assistance by certified volunteers for anyone who makes less than $57,000.00, persons with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers. Please call Mary Ann at 816-221-2734 Ext. 123 to schedule a free Tax Prep Assistance appointment. Appointments will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm to 5pm through April 15, 2021. You can meet in person or via Zoom. Translators will be available for Spanish and Vietnamese speakers.

Due to CARES Act rules, you can get one free credit report per week from each bureau through April 2021. (Typically, you’re only entitled to one free credit report per year from each bureau.) Make sure you access your reports at www.annualcreditreport.com , rather than one of the many websites that offer free credit scores but will make you put down your credit card number to sign up for a trial.

If you make less than $57,000, you qualify for free tax return preparation through volunteer sites. IRS-certified volunteers prepare your tax return and find out if you qualify for Earned Income Tax Credit and other refundable credits.
