Only ten days left until Christmas. Have you started your shopping or better yet all done? Here are some fire safety tips as we bake and make those great Christmas treats: Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water. Don’t leave the kitchen unattended while cooking.... Don’t leave flammable objects on the stovetopeven when it’s off. Always use a potholder or towel to carry hot items. Allow kitchen appliances to cool off before storing them.

We have seen many daycares and schools posting pictures of their entryway to classes and the building with their Halloween decorations. We appreciate your spooky spirit, but please understand doing this is a violation of the fire code. You should always plan to have two ways out. Do you have kids away at college? They should know which two ways to get out during a fire. Staying at grandma and grandpa's house for the weekend. Everyone should know two ways out. While at work, you should have two ways out. Traveling and staying in a hotel. You should know which two ways to get out. All of these places are not your common every night place you sleep. Having an escape plan in these situations is crucial for getting out during a fire. This week let's discuss fire escape plans. We always hear about escape plans for home, however, you should have one for all locations you are at. Home, work, college dorms, grandparent's house. You only have seconds to react and get out and stay out. Once out, everyone should go to the designated meeting place to ensure everyone is accounted for. https://www.youtube.com/watch

The wind is really whipping today. All burn permits are suspended for the day. As dry as it is we also ask that you do not use your fire pits and use extreme caution if grilling. Also, please make sure smoking material is fully extinguished and dont throw cigarette butts out your vehicle window.

We have been notified by a few citizens within the district that they have received phone calls requesting money on behalf of CJC. CJC will never call soliciting money from our citizens. CJC will never ask for personal information. Please share this with your senior neighbors and family members. This group of individuals are at the greatest risk of being scammed.
