Every time I meet an expectant mother who tells me she’s having a baby boy, I just get so excited! There’s something about the love a momma gets from her little boy it’s just so unexpected in its sweetness! It’s a dream I never knew I had all the innocence and adventure and never-ending supply of snuggles! Literally, my Benjamin plans snuggle time in his day. Mommy, I’m going to finish my lunch and read this book about dinosaurs and then I’m going to snuggle with you. What?! That’s just a normal thing that happens in my world, because I have a boy! It’s wonderful.

Snow day with these kiddos... I have looked forward to taking their photo in the first snow every year since they were born... it’s so fun. Little snow babies, right? But like... they are HUGE. They’re more like my little snow monsters now.

A lovelier pair of sisters you’ll never find! Truly, Inga and Freya are two of the most joyful and sincere people I have ever known. I just love every minute I get to spend with them, and it filled me right up to see my Valentines mini setup light up with their sweetness! Oh the blessing of siblings close in age! And oh, the chaos! You know what brings photos to life? The beautiful craziness of your world! These days with little ones last for a fleeting moment - before any time has passed, those babies are big, and it’s so hard to remember the little, precious people they were when their toes were so tiny and their cheeks were so rosy and sweet and round! It was my incredible joy to get to spend the morning with this beautiful family - I can’t wait to watch Holland and Ellis become the very best of friends!!

Oh the little bitty sweet baby phase! I won’t say it feels like just yesterday that my kids were this small... but I do remember very well what it was like to meet my brand new little people. I can’t think of a more mind-blowing, challenging, or more overwhelmingly joyful experience, which is why it means so much to me, getting to enter a new family’s home at this beautiful moment in their life to capture a glimpse... This family made it look easy. And gorgeous! So sweet!!!

Alright 2021, we’re ready for you. Don’t you do us dirty. It’s been a year. I find it kind of overwhelming to even put into words. I started this year in concert black, doing the thing I have worked my entire life (like literally since I was 3 years old) to do. I am a violinist in a symphony orchestra. I never realized how much of my identity was wrapped up in that occupation, but I’m here to tell you that these last nine months have been a doozy, feeling like that id...entity has been all but stripped away, and trying to understand where I fit into this Covid-19 world. It’s been such a challenge and such a reward, finding a new way to create this year. I’m thankful for the push, the education, and the encouragement that I received from female business owners that I admire so deeply (@the.valeriebrown @felisephotography @angiewynnephotography @ktmortlandphoto). The very idea that I could be affirmed and validated in a field other than music is something that literally blows my mind and fills me with gratitude. And the clients - every one of you... your beautiful families... your precious babies... your moments and milestones... I know it sounds over-the-top, but I really do fall in love: every session, every family, every time. It brings me more joy than you’ll ever know, getting to enter your world and capture your story. I’m so deeply thankful. When I look back on 2020, there’s no question that the time I spent with my camera was a SUPER bright spot. In 2021, I hope I’ll get to see you from my place behind the lens, and maybe also from my spot onstage at Powell Hall!

I have gotten to shoot enough sessions with grandparents this Fall to realize how very important and precious it is to capture those relationships and memories between grandparents and grandchildren! It’s a special kind of love and an incredibly joyful kind of emotion, which is everything I seek out as a photographer! Couldn’t let these few days in Louisiana go by without a quick and playful photo session in the driveway with my babies and their Nana and Papa!

I’m headed to one of my favorite locations to shoot tonight! The spot in these photos just kinda jumped out at me by a little happy fall miracle the other day!

There’s a sweet phenomenon I experience when meeting with families of three. They pull up in their car, mom and dad get out and say hi, and then... the baby emerges from the vehicle, like a little star! In an instant, I’m ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the precious person brings those parents SO much joy and pride I’m so there for it! And *this* baby boy?! Look at those eyes!
