Would you like more information about the COVID vaccine coming to Missouri? Governor Parson shared this website with us today, to share with our community, outlining information about the vaccination.
***HIGH FIRE DANGER TODAY*** The nws has placed our area in a high fire danger area. High winds and low humidity could lead to rapid fire growth. Even with the rain we got, it doesn't take long for surface fuels to dry out.
Please help us thank Engineer/Chaplain Jeff Argurieo for being there for all of us whenever we need him. Additionally, he is a volunteer. So he does it all for free.
A good use of the extra energy you'll have from an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning, is to change the batteries and test your smoke alarm. Even if your alarms are wired you still need to change batteries. If power goes out, your alarms will not work without good batteries!
" A date which will live in infamy " Roosevelt Today we remember the men and women who sacrificed their lives, and those who became heroes, on a day that ultimately led us into WW2.
Residents of Cedar Hill Fire Protection District: Do you have students learning from home? Our crews have wrapped up our school visits for NFPA Fire Prevention Week and we want our home school students to have access to Fire Prevention materials. Each of our Fire Stations has a supply of materials available for pick up. There is a coloring Fire Prevention Calendar with activities and tips, and a sample Home Escape Plan, all conveniently packaged in a Halloween Trick r Treat bag. The materials will be available now through Halloween. (We are looking forward to seeing Trick r Treaters!) We also invite you to check out http://www.sparky.org/ for fun Fire Prevention information! #northwestr1 #grandviewr2 #hillsboror3 #rockwoodrvi #onlionedu
If you drive by our house 1 today, you might notice this strange contraption out front. Each year the pumps on our trucks are tested to make sure they are still up to the demands that our job places on them. This tool tests the fire pumps ability to supply water to the fire ground.
Today Chuck Gerding presented Backstoppers with a check for $52,575 from the Screaming Eagle Grill BBQ event he organized that was held at the Big River VFW in September. Fire Chief Mick Fischer presented Chuck a helmet and named him Honorary Cedar Hill Fire Chief for all his efforts supporting area First Responders. We would like to thank Cedar Hill and the surrounding communities as well as Chuck Gerding, Gerding Enterprises, and Screaming Eagle Grill for making this year such a huge success.
This past Monday we were finally able to swear in Lt William Powell. He was promoted to Lieutenant on September 1st. However, right at that same time his wife had a medical emergency that put her in St Clare Hospital for the better part of a month. She had a sudden cardiac arrest, otherwise known as the widowmaker. The chain of events that happend from the onset of this condition to her recovery were nothing short of a miracle. We would like to send a special thanks to Sh...irley Gastler and Holly Vitale from St Clare Hospital for surprising the Powells by being at the swearing in. Shirley Gastler is the hospital’s medical liasion to the fire district. She stayed on top of Jens progress and made sure Will understood everything that was going on during her recovery. Holly Vitale was Jens ICU nurse and took incredible care of Jen while she was hospitalized. We cannot show enough gratitude to these two ladies for their care and compassion for Lt Powell’s family. We were all extremely excited to still have the opportunity to see Jen pin her husband with his Lieutenants badge. We also appreciate all the support from our personnel, community members, and St Clare Hospital staff for helping this family through this trying time.
***UPDATE: Gunner's humans have been located and arrangements made to reunite them!! Thank you to every one for helping find his family *** This guy showed up to our house 3 at 8790 byrnesville rd this morning and has lost his humans. He has a training collar but no tags. If you know his humans please contact us 636 285 6053. He really misses them.
Today, some of our firefighters participated in a search and rescue class put on by Engine House Training. We would like to thank Pacific Fire Protection District for hosting this class. Our firefighters are constantly Training to keep our skills strong, and learn new techniques to better serve our community. **photo credit Pacific Fire Protection District **
Strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry vegetation means dangerous fire weather conditions today. This Red Flag Warning is for the entire St. Louis region.... Please don't burn today. This includes yard waste & firepits. Brust fires may also quickly grow out of control. As for the winds, they'll be out of the south sustained 20-25 mph for St. Louis with gusts to 35+ mph. To the north and west we could see winds gusting 40-45 mph.
Breezy and dry conditions will lead to an increased risk of fires on both Friday and Saturday. A cold front then passes through Missouri and Illinois on Sunday, bringing with it cooler temperatures and the chance of rain.
What better way to prepare yourself for Halloween than to come donate some blood. You can even wear a mask. We hope to see you there!
We are advising our citizens not to do any open burning until we receive a decent amount of rain. This includes recreational fires, burn pits, and burning in barrels. Vegetation is very dry, humidity is low, and we are expecting gusty winds.
The fire watch has been upgraded to a red flag warning for today. Please do not burn!
Its not suggested to do any burning until we get some meaningful rain. Its getting dry out! A small brush pile can get out of control faster than you think.
