{MEET MEGAN HAMMOND, BSN, RN}: Megan is one of the amazing caregivers on our Carousel Pediatric Care team! She sees kids in their homes, where she provides nur...sing care while coordinating care plans with physicians and Carousel team. Megan on Mustache Month: "It warms my heart knowing our community is reaching out to help these children and their families. They are going through some of the hardest, most unimaginable things a family could experience. Knowing this outpouring of love and support is on its way can bring a smile and comfort in times of grief and uncertainty. The families are always so grateful for these acts of kindness, as are we." When she's not caring for Carousel kiddos, you can find her hanging out with her husband and three kids-- playing board games, making home decor and art on the laser printer, playing piano, or catching up on the latest movie or show with her husband! : Dr. Nadia Tremonti, a pediatric palliative care physician, has devoted her life to providing care to children at the end of their lives. In a short documentary, she is seen working with families to make better one of the worst things that can happen to a family: the death of a child.

Heartfelt thanks to Grace Blankets founders Tara and Matt Jarvis (and daughter Tallan, pictured with our Lane Foster). They started their charity to honor their... daughter, Piper Grace, who died in infancy from a genetic condition.They have previously donated beautiful blankets for Carousel Pediatric Care patients at Kansas City Hospice House. Tara recently reached out and learned that we could use additional items to help us transform a regular room into something more fitting for a child, and Grace Blankets donated some awesome things--wall hangings (a sloth and a llama!), a couple of little lamps, a cute bird mobile, some beautiful bedding sets and coordinating blankets, some swaddlers, shampoo and lotion, and candles. This gives us the opportunity to thoroughly clean the store througho...ut the day and deep clean over the weekend. We're still conveniently located in Ranchmart, now just around the corner from O'Neill's Restaurant and Bar. Each pre-loved treasure brings a story of joy. Each donor, a story of remembrance. Each volunteer shares a story of connection. Each shopper helps create a a new story for families in our community. Everyone has a story. What will be yours?

It can be difficult for adults to find the words to explain what death is and what happens when someone dies. Solace House Director Lisa guides us through with just the right words!

Grief cannot be removed from the experience of systemic racism and violence. We know we do not have the answers for how to process the events of late, but Sola...ce House is a safe place for children and adults. Grief is our focus and we are thinking of the children and families who are experiencing the compounded grief of their loved ones, their community, and of their safety.
