As we continue to keep a close eye on the Cornonavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the Kansas City area, we are taking proactive steps to help ensure the safety of our employees and clients. We believe it is critical for us all to do our part to curb the spread of the COVID-19. After careful consideration, we have made the decision to close our offices for all in-person meetings until further notice. Rest assured however, that we will be continuing to work with our clients remo...tely through phone, email, and postal mailing of information throughout the office closure. For those returns already in process, and for those clients who haven’t yet sent us their tax documents, we urge you to use electronic transmission to deliver your documents. This electronic transmission can be via fax (816-489-7879), email, or via our secure, client friendly portal called Onvio. If you would like to use the Onvio portal, please contact us with your email address so that we can send you a link to register. If the above methods are not an option, we will have to wait until after the quarantine is over to receive your information. For delivery of your tax return documents back to you, we have the ability to utilize password protected Adobe PDF files attached to an email to you or the Onvio portal. We will still need signature documents from you prior to e-filing your tax returns, but these signature documents can be sent via fax, scan and email, or even via a picture text back to us. Having our employees work remotely may impact our office efficiencies, so our normal turn around times of two weeks between receiving your tax information to having a completed return may be negatively impacted, but we WILL get all returns completed in time for timely filing. On March 20th, the IRS has issued guidance allowing all individual and business income tax filers to delay tax returns and payments normally due April 15th out to July 15, 2020 without incurring any interest or penalties. The state of Missouri has also extended their due date for tax returns to July 15 as well. This includes amounts due for the 2019 tax return as well as First Quarter Estimated Tax payments for those who pay quarterly. If you are unable to complete the tax return preparation and filing process electronically, or just don’t want to mess with it at this time, please be assured that there is now plenty of time to get everything completed after the quarantine has ended. On behalf of all of us at Carnes CPA, thank you for understanding and your support. Please stay safe and take the recommended precautions. If you have any questions, please email or call our office at 816-489-7878. See more
