Sometimes helping others make us feel good... But more than that... is to know that you helped the one or those who asked you for it.

Massage therapy or therapeutic bodywork can be the answer to regaining balance in our nervous system. It is our system of communication within our body and in response to our external world. It functions between our outside world and us, gaining an understanding of how massage therapy can address these issues can be very powerful. Our nervous system is made up of our brain, our spinal cord, and all the stimulation that goes through it. Nerves branch off in pairs all the way u...p and down the length of our spine. They supply our limbs and organs. Spinal nerves supply the body; head nerves are simply known as cranial nerves. Stimuli pass through our bodies via sensory receptors in our skin, soft tissue, and muscles. That information is relayed along the sensory nerve pathways to our brain via our spinal cord. Than impulses from our brain take the trip back down via the motor nerves to help us take the appropriate action. Our autonomic nervous system is a complete system to itself. It is subdivided into two branches. The sympathetic nervous system is concerned with speeding up responses and increasing heart rate and breathing. The other is the parasympathetic nervous system, which slows the body down for repair processes, like digestion and rest. Our bodies are continually trying to maintain a healthy balance between these two systems. Massage is a wonderful tool to use in working with the nervous system. It stimulates the central nervous system via the peripheral nerves in the skin. This stimulates the autonomic nervous system. Regaining balance between the two systems is what massage therapy does. When overstimulation of one particular system occurs, the therapeutic effects of massage help adjust so the natural balance can be regained. In the client this helps to enable their body to rest and the regenerative processes take place.

My exciting experience of my working tour by Minneapolis (Minnesota) and Austin (Texas) participating as a official Massage Therapist of the University of Missouri in the NCAA(National Collegiate Athletic association) it is always an exciting experience that I really enjoy, being with those hard working athletes.
