Yesterday, at the annual Spelling Bee at Carl Junction’s Intermediate Building, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders showed their spelling skills with Sixth Grader Lily Shepard earning the building championship. Each classroom held a spelling bee with the top 4 places going on to the grade-level championship. Grade-level finalists then competed for the Intermediate Building honors. Other School-Wide Finalists include Sixth Grader Audrey Besperat, 2nd place; Sixth Grader Estevan Rankin,... 3rd place; and Fourth Grader Hudson Trosper, Alternate. The winning words were meringue and miniature. Watch the spelling bee here: http://www.citylinktv.com/channel/carl-junction-tv/ Lily Shepard will represent Carl Junction Intermediate School in the Joplin Globe’s special section featuring other spelling champions from around the region. There will not be a regional spelling bee this year due to COVID restrictions. Additional grade-level winners included fifth-graders Damien Meister, Matteo Le, and Ty Schupbach; and fourth-graders Olivia Eidson and Gabe Ackerson.

We made it to 100 days of school, but the kids are looking a little "worse for the wear"! (The kids are participating in the tradition of "dressing like you are 100-years old.") Look at some of the adorable 100-day fun we observed today in the K-1 Building. Congratulations on accomplishing 100 days on a difficult year Bulldogs, we have come a long way together!

With the observance over the weekend of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we wanted to highlight the much loved and appreciated officers of the Carl Junction School District. Our schools make the safety of our precious students a top priority. Vital partners in this goal are our two amazing School Resource Officers: Stephanie Castlebury and Danny Conway, and our Juvenile Officer Kalleigh Richardson. These stellar police officers make our schools their home base, always on h...and to help in any crisis situation. In addition, they also have become encouraging friends and enthusiastic allies around campus. Sincere thanks to these wonderful people! We love you!
