Food critic Kelsey Cipolla published her top plates from the past year in last month’s issue of In Kansas City Magazine and listed Café Sebastienne with top honors saying: The only thing that feels more decadent than eating brunch surrounded by works of art from Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art’s collection is this French toast Check out all the remarkable dishes featured here: https://www.inkansascity.com//resta/20-of-kcs-best-dishes/
Today has been identified as a National Day of Action to urge Congress and the Administration to enact SNAP benefit boosts in the next COVID-19 relief package. The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) has stated that reports indicate the next package will include assistance for businesses and healthcare efforts, but not SNAP we stand with KC Healthy Kids and other allies to insist that individuals and families who desperately need relief get immediate assistance, too. Contact your Senators and Representatives (call, email, tag on social media; find the right information for you at contactingcongress.org) and urge them to include SNAP in the next COVID-19 package. #endhungernow
Buy a shirt, support a KC hospitality worker. Such a simple idea, launched by Kansas City creatives Anna Petrow and Frank Norton as a campaign of solidarity and support. They write, "Our local, independent restaurants are closing their dining rooms to help protect Kansas Citians. Now you can help protect them. 100% of the net proceeds from KC Runs on Hospitality shirt sales will go directly back our locally-owned restaurants to distribute to their employees. Thank you for yo...ur support! We will get through this together, Kansas City! https://shop.seenmerch.com//kc-hospitality-fund-kc-runs-on
Thanks to our friends at Made in KC for sharing more about what you can do to help get masks to the brave people in the health care field. Keep supporting each other KC and keep practicing social distancing!! the Café Sebastienne squad! "We've teamed up, because we're stronger together. Made in KC and @sandlotgoods have now joined forces with @RightfulySewn for the distribution of our face masks. Check out the latest list of area hospitals to see where these masks may end up. Please consider donating to support our healthcare providers. They’re our first line of defense!"
The Café Sebastienne squad will keep sharing ways to help your local restaurants and farmers, responsibly. Open Belly Podcast has been an excellent source of information throughout this whole experience. Before caronavirus, Open Belly mainly focused on the restaurants owned by immigrants. Now those stories are still being told but there is also regular information and updates on what is happening, on a broader scale, through their page. Keep supporting local business in a responsible manner and STAY HOME!!
"The Rieger temporarily closed its restaurant operations on Monday, March 16, and made a striking announcement that same afternoon: The popular Crossroads restaurant would transform into Crossroads Community Kitchen (CCK) and serve meals to neighbors, guests and staff." Click through to learn more:
