This weekend, we thank all of the brave men and women who have died in the line of service. We each owe a debt of gratitude to you for your sacrifice and the s...acrifice of your family and friends. To many, this weekend is about BBQ, family, friends and a number of other things... and that is EXACTLY how it should be. A celebration of bravery... of freedom, of fighting oppression. Our weekend is filled with fun and enjoyment because others have perished in order for us to live. Every bit of laughter this weekend... every smile.... every breathtaking moment or delicious bite is our way of saying thank you. For those of you visiting from other countries here is a brief description of this wonderful day. Memorial Day is a US federal holiday wherein the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces are remembered. The holiday, which is celebrated every year on the final Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.
