Hey, Hey Butler Football family - Good to be a Bear isn't it. What a great win at Warsaw Friday night. Like I told our players Friday - it's crazy how all these teams have made the Butler Bears their Super Bowl. They all compare themselves to us and we've quickly become the standard so many teams aspire too. Our players, school and community should be very very proud for what this team has been able to achieve and the respect we've garnered the last couple years. Very e...xciting!! We have had a great start to our season - no question. But also - like I told our kids, that's not our Super Bowl. We want more than just to beat Warsaw or Buffalo - we want conference, district and State titles. And if we're to do that - we need to continue to work hard and get better. El Dorado is a trap game. Like yesterday and what happened to Alabama - we need to be on our game every week. No let downs. So let's have another great week of practice and finish the regular season the next couple of weeks strong, so we can go into the playoffs rolling. This week is the same as last - Monday - start in the weight room at 3. Out by 530. Tuesday and Wednesday - Regular practice - should be out by 530 if we focus. Hello Butler Football - Sorry for the late post. Another great win by the Bears Friday night. We weren't great offensively - but our defense played great and with the help of 4 turnovers were able to get the win. That sets up a showdown with Warsaw this friday that will probably be for the conference title and have huge implications as far as district seatings go. We need the best week of practice so far this year to help us have a chance to win. Regular week - Monday ...in the weight room at 3. Out around 530. Tuesday - Defense Wednesday - Offense Thursday - Pre-game -film in the library at 330. Pre-game meal after. Friday - Game. Bus leaves at 345. Thanks to all of you who have supported this program the last couple of years. You don't know how much the kids and coaches appreciate it. Hello Butler football family. I'm running late so I apologize for the brevity of this post. Another great win Friday against a very talented Lincoln team. For the second week in a row we really didn't play all that well but managed to wear them down and got away late. Proud of our defense for holding them to one touchdown when we allowed them inside the 10, 3 or 4 times. We have our toughest two weeks - playing a very athletic Buffalo team and turn around and play an un...defeated Warsaw team next week. We need to have a couple of great weeks of practice if we're going to compete with these two very good teams. This week is very vanilla as far as weeks go. I'm sorry to say we had to cancel the remainder of our JV schedule and I apologize to those younger players who work so hard for us and don't get to experience game conditions. We ask a-lot of those guys and hopefully we'll get them on the field one of these Friday nights. Monday is our lift, film, introduce opponent day. Buffalo has some interesting formations that may take a while to go over. Should be done between 545 and 6. Tuesday and Wednesday are normal practices - out by 545. Thursday our pregame practice with our meal. Friday - Game Day. We play at home - so no need for game day meals. Congratulations to the boys and a huge Thank You to the parents for supplying food and drink to these young men - we really appreciate it. Hello Fellow Bears - Well, we found out what we were made of Friday night. It's crazy how far our name and trademark has come in the last couple of years. We now play as the favorite and everybody gives us their best shot. And when we play poorly and win by 30 we feel bad. That's what happened Friday - our team knew how tough Cole Camp would be, and they were. We got down early in the 3rd and score 37 unanswered for another great win. Our guys didn't panic and simply fou...nd another gear. Our defense did give up a couple of big plays - but for the most part played better. Offensively we still are having issues understanding are blocking schemes and we don't block very many plays correctly - but that being said - winning and not playing great says a lot about this team. It's another exciting year for Bear fans for sure. These boys do play hard for this community, school, program and that's exciting to see again. This week is another challenge - Lincoln is very good. We'll have to play well to win. This week leading up to Friday night looks like this - Monday starts in the weight room at 3. JV guys go to Midway and play after our Jr. Hi. Should start around 630. Tuesday - Wednesday and Thursday are regular paractice days getting out around 530 Pre-practice meal Thursday after practice. We'll leave around 345 on Friday for another tough game.
