It’s heartbreaking but necessary to see one of the prettiest tree-lined blocks in Bolivar become treeless today. (100 block of West Broadway.) The roots have wrecked the sidewalk over the years, making them unsafe. A new sidewalk is coming. Kerry Douglas saw to these nine Aristocrat Pear trees being planted by Robert Burks a couple of decades ago. They have been the subject of many photos over those years, especially when in full bloom in Spring. John Hale’s Quality Tree Service crew was charged with the responsibility to begin a new era for the block.

Just about done with the new paint job. Long overdue. Perhaps the color it was before four decades or so of sun faded it out.
