Happening now until 9:00. BACKSTITCH by Kimberly Chambers. Kimberly’s new line of work is water-etched and functional in vibrant colors. Her show Backstitch" i...s a reference to sewing and embroidery, but also the use of that particular stitch. Backstitches are strengthening, and by reviewing our past stitches, like we do our own pasts, we learn things for the future. Visit us tonight and support our local artists. Please join us for special concurrent shows featuring the ceramic art of 323CLAY resident artists Kimberly Chambers and Brian Morgenlander. Kimberly’s show BACKSTITCH is a reference to sewing and embroidery, but also the use of that particular stitch. Backstitches are strengthening, and by reviewing our past stitches, like we do our own pasts, we learn things for the future. This process gives her purpose and the repetitive nature helps her to escape any troubling thoughts. ...Brian’s show ORGANIC FUNCTION is about finding the breaking point without breaking it. His curiosity drives him to push the limits of the clay, looking for the moment before something collapses. By questioning these boundaries, his work has evolved from basic functional forms to elaborate and technical ones. He strives to generate an atmosphere of contemplation and reflection. June 5th 5-9:0pm at Bredin-Lee Gallery 1729 McGee St KCMO
